Resolution Games Recruits Left 4 Dead Creator

by Rainier on March 18, 2020 @ 11:23 a.m. PDT

Resolution Games, known for Bait!, Acron: Attack of the Squirrels! and Angry Birds VR: Isle of Pigs, announced the addition of veteran game creator, Mike Booth, to its board of directors.

Booth will join an already deep bench of gaming experts to help steer the direction of the company, while also working hands-on with the company’s games teams to create the rich content experiences they have become known for.

“What drew me to Resolution Games is the team’s passion and dedication to creating innovative and immersive game play in what’s proving to be an incredibly powerful, yet still somewhat challenging technology,” said Booth. “I’ve seen Tommy [Palm, CEO of Resolution Games] and his team create diverse, high-quality content that pushes the boundaries of what is possible while bringing new people into gaming, which is a very hard thing to do. I’m looking forward to working with this talented group and navigating this field together, even moving beyond the studio’s usual genres to really push the boundaries of what can be done in games.”

Mike is no stranger to the world of gaming having designed and created several legendary titles of his own. His first game, Nox, was created when he was still in college, while Left 4 Dead and Counter-Strike: Condition Zero were products of his start up, Turtle Rock Studios (acquired along with Left 4 Dead by Valve Software in 2007). He has also worked on the original Counter-Strike, Counter-Strike (Xbox), Counter-Strike: Source, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Team Fortress 2, Command & Conquer: Generals and Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2 while at Blizzard Entertainment, Electronic Arts and Valve Software. In his most recent role as creative director at Facebook, he spent several years leading the team in exploring how VR can empower people to share their experiences and connect with each other in new ways.

“I’ve been playing games that Mike created for decades, and we’re so excited to add this legend not only to our board but also as a hands-on creative advisor to our teams as we bring our games to market,” said Tommy Palm, CEO of Resolution Games. “At Resolution Games, we know that in order to make the best games, you need the best and most creative minds. Having Mike join our team and share in our vision as we venture into a more hardcore games space will ensure we are creating the best possible experiences.”

Booth is taking a hands-on role in several of the company’s titles to be announced later this year, as well as already-announced game titles including the studio’s award-winning, multiplayer VR co-op game, Acron: Attack of the Squirrels!, and the upcoming Cook-Out: A Sandwich Tale.
