Survive the Arena Shrouded in Darkness: Every fighter must fend for themselves as the darkness creeps in ever closer... Countless will fall and only one will ultimately rise victorious on the fields of the Shadow Arena.
Master the visceral, real-time action to both land attacks on enemies and evade their blows to become the last spirit standing.
Shadow Arena pits 40 players against each other in a ruthless fight to be the last person standing on the battlefield. Players can choose from nine playable characters in the beta, each with their own unique fighting style. To climb to the top of the pack, players must slay monsters and collect loot to upgrade their gear and gain buffs. However, impeccable skill execution and well-timed evasive tactics are critical in securing victory.
The beta for this arena fighter will be available through Steam for the North American, European, and Asian servers from Friday April 17, 2020 to Sunday April 19th (registration will open on March 27, 2020 until 20,000 register). New features for this phase of beta testing include an improved matching system and character balance, as well as normal and AI match modes.
This beta test will include a two-man mode, where a pair of players can team up to combine their skills for engaging tactical battles. There will also be a practice mode for players to learn the basics of the game and test out new tactics with all of the playable characters. In addition, players will be able to host private matches with up to 40 players for a custom game experience.
Matchmaking is entirely skill based - the better a player performs, the stronger their opponents will be once a new tier has been reached. This system is designed to provide the most balanced PvP experience possible.
Normal match mode is not counted toward a player’s ranking. This mode is for players who want to play the game lightly without the pressure of competition.
AI mode is for newer players to learn and practice while fighting against AI enemies. Experienced players can also use AI mode to practice and warm up.
The special package of in-game items will be rewarded to people who sign up for the premium beta key. The package includes the highest grade sealed items, a matchlock, and Red Dragon Offering. Players who signed up for previous beta phases will receive a premium beta key and the exclusive in-game rewards.
Shadow Arena was originally a game within Black Desert, but eventually evolved into its own stand-alone game. While Shadow Arena does draw from Black Desert, it has created its own unique style, drawing from the MOBA, battle royale, and MMO genres to create an arena fighter. Shadow Arena has two gameplay modes: solo and team. While players can boast their skill in the solo match, complex strategic gameplay is required in the team mode. Players can also enjoy a distinctive co-op mode with a new style of PvP action.
Shadow Arena will be released in the first half of 2020 for PC first and console later.
