'Cepheus Protocol' Gets Steam Early Access Date - Screens & Trailer

by Rainier on April 9, 2020 @ 12:00 a.m. PDT

Cepheus Protocol is a tactical open-world real-time strategy inspired by XCOM, Company of Heroes, and Parasite Eve.

Treasure Island, San Francisco, has been infected with a mysterious alien outbreak called the Pangu Virus, and it is up to Captain Winter, a U.S. Army soldier working with the Center for Epidemic Research and Control (CERC) to stop the mysterious and deadly Pangu Virus from spreading to the mainland.

Tens of thousands of people are being infected by Patient Zero, who controls the pandemic. Each day the virus evolves, turning the inhabitants into crazed monsters with one desire - spread the Pangu Virus beyond containment to consume all organic life. The Center for Disease and Epidemic Control is all that stands between Patient Zero and all-out chaos as they deploy to Treasure Island and set up a base, fighting street-by-street as they hunt down Patient Zero before it is too late!

In Cepheus Protocol, players will build specialized bases, recruit new units to assign to their defense and offensive squads. They’ll collect viral samples, research upgrades, and new weapons, while exploring Treasure Island in an open world filled with horrific scenes and horrified citizens desperate to survive. Featuring a day and night cycle with changing weather, players discover a multitude of different environments across two connected islands located in the San Francisco Bay.

As you control the fate of a whole city every choice you make matters as you decide how it is best to combat the pandemic. Will you firebomb and leave no trace of human life behind? Or will you try and save everyone at the cost of your squad's safety? Featuring a full day and night cycle, the world changes with each new day as the virus evolves, making the infected more dangerous by the minute. You'll have to use all the tools in your arsenal to research the plague and seek out Patient Zero, whose mastery over the virus grows with each victim she infects.

Cepheus Protocol will be available through Steam Early Access on May 15, 2020.

For Cepheus Protocol’s Early Access Release, we will be launching with our first standalone feature, Pandemic Mode. Players race against time to hunt down and stop Patient Zero before all the inhabitants on Treasure Island are infected by the Pangu Virus and changed into mutated, bloodthirsty monsters. Players will have to retake each zone before it turns hot, all the while protecting their base from frequent attacks, save citizens in random encounters, and track down Patient Zero before she gains total control. With challenging gameplay and a strong focus on tactics, Cepheus Protocol updates the RTS genre in meaningful ways not seen in years.

Key Features:

  • Train and level a single squad of up to 8 members as you search the city for Patient Zero.
  • Build, train defenders, and safeguard your base from the Pangu Virus’ victims.
  • Manage your squad as you attempt to control the spread of the virus.
  • Take command of Captain Adrian Winter as she leads an 8-member squad of elite soldiers as you attempt to stop the Pangu Virus from spreading beyond containment.
  • Choose how to spend your in-game money on important upgrading to your barracks, improving weapons, or buying new soldiers to fill your ranks. You earn in-game money by completing main and side mission
  • Collect viral samples to better improve your squads’ abilities and expand your understanding of the virus before it is too late.
  • Every life matters and every soldier counts. If Captain Winter dies, it’s game over. Decide whether to leave her at the base or use her advanced skill-set to even the odds while in the field.
