The Old World has passed away. Amidst the ruins lurks an ageless fear.
You are Outlander. Once adrift upon the Ageless Sea, you now find yourself on the shores of a dying world. From the consuming darkness emerges a figure cloaked in white, the Shepherd of Wayward Souls, who burdens you with the task of hunting down the remaining Guardians of the Old World. You must journey into the vast gloom to explore ancient ruins, discover forgotten secrets and battle the horrors that lurk within.
Traverse ancient crypts, sunken ruins, corrupted temples and howling forests with nine weapons and ten artifacts of dreadful might. Traditional firearms such as the double-barreled shotgun lay waste to foes and all have alternate fire abilities. The Retcher and the Fangspitter transform the cysts and teeth ripped from the corpses of enemies into death-dealing projectiles. Do not underestimate the adversary, for they grow great in number and power. Keep both mind and blade sharp to survive the dangers ahead.
Wrath’s hub world design inspires exploration-heavy non-linear play. Only the first two realms are open at first, but keys lay hidden throughout the five worlds that open the other doors. Secrets scattered in the shadows award both lore and desperately-needed armaments. Beware: Wrath’s hardcore monsters make the prospect of survival grim. Even saving the game can be terrifying -- Soul Tethers allow saving anywhere, but they’re finite. Play aggressively, but play strategically.
Wrath ’s second major Early Access update launches today, introducing a new level, weapon, and enemy. Explore the former home of an extinct religious sect and the underground network hidden underneath. Lava-filled chasms, stone chambers, and profane altars hint at the horrors of a forgotten world. Sear mottled flesh with molten metal with the Slag Cannon. Learn to fear the Oppressor, a walking furnace capable of firing relentless volleys of molten rock.
Steam Early Access players now have access to a detailed roadmap and can look forward to at least two more substantial updates before Wrath: Aeon of Ruin launches. New devastating weapons, vicious enemies, secret-filled levels and more await. With new content promised all year long, players will have a stream of new toys to experiment with ahead of launch.
“We’ve fallen in love with Wrath throughout development and we want it to be the best game possible,” said Frederik Schreiber, Vice President of 3D Realms and Producer on Wrath. “So while we’re coming out later than we wished, we’re creating the Founder’s Edition Big Box since our fans love them, as well as making sure our roadmap is detailed and transparent.”As a shooter that revels in the wonderful history of the genre while adapting to modern expectations, 3D Realms, 1C Entertainment and Killpixel Games as a perfect candidate for a Founder’s Edition Big Box.
