'Liberated' (ALL) Comes To PC Later This Month, Two DLCs Included - Trailer

by Rainier on July 16, 2020 @ 3:05 p.m. PDT

Leap into the frame of a graphic novel, where classic motion comic storytelling transitions into fully playable action sections in a story about technological surveillance squeezing society’s freedom away.

Liberated is an interactive dystopian graphic novel that unfolds on the pages of a comic book. The game is made up of 4 chapters - comic book issues showing the story from a perspective of different characters. Liberated transitions seamlessly from choice-based branching story sequences to fully playable action sequences as the action moves from panel to panel.

It is set in a dark world in the near future where technology turned against people. Under the pretext of ensuring security and order, many civil rights of citizens are being violated and modern technology has become a tool of the authorities to manipulate people. People are being surveilled in every possible way - via social media, CCTV, their online payments, device tracking and many others. Liberated is also a story about authoritarianism: about how it appears in a democratic society, gradually develops and ultimately tears it down.

The story presented in Liberated focuses on the fate of a group of people which has decided to oppose the new social order by using various methods of resistance even resorting to violence. On the other side there are representatives of the police and government, for whom the priority is to ensure order by all means possible, sometimes even by violating human freedoms. By exploring the story from different perspectives and both sides of the conflict, player learns the history of a world and begins to understand the motivations of various characters. The player also learns that any action and any decision will bring consequences and story can change.

The PC version, which will debut on Steam, GOG.com, GeForce Now and Humble Bundle at $19.99, €18.99, £15.99 on July 30, 2020, will come with a variety of new features and improvements, including:

  • Full English voice-overs done by award winning localization agency, Roboto Global.
  • Ultra HD resolution support (4K and up)
  • Ultra widescreen support
  • High refresh rate support (144Hz and up)
  • High-res textures
  • Enhanced lighting
  • Support for Keyboard & Mouse + Gamepads
  • 2 free DLC chapters

The additional DLC chapters take place after the main story and delve deeper into the dystopian reality of Liberated.

For the Homeland tells the story of a low-level official tasked with directing the public discourse online. As a ‘paid troll’, he destroys the lives and careers of targeted people while treating it like a nine-to-five job.

Glory to the Heroes shows how the government and the media twist the narrative about the events presented in the base game.

"We’ve read carefully all the feedback that we’ve got from the players. We are thrilled that the Playable Graphic Novel formula met with such a warm reception,” said Robert Purzycki, CEO of L.inc, producer of Liberated. “Thanks to our dialogue with the community we will be able to deliver an enhanced version of the game on the PC, and later update it on the Switch with additional content,” he added.

A free upgrade for the Switch version will be available after the PC launch

The gameplay is made up of 2.5D platformer, where the player moves in 2D within 3D environments, story elements presented within heavily stylized and animated comic book frames, QTE sequences and branching dialogue, bringing the story to life like nothing else.

Currently available for Nintendo Switch (eShop NA or Euro), Liberated is coming to PC in July 30, 2020, followed by PS4 and Xbox One editions at a later time.
