In Grounded, you are shrunk to the size of an ant and must survive in the beautiful yet perilous micro-world of a suburban backyard. This harsh and dangerous landscape can be navigated solo or with up to three additional players in co-operative multiplayer, as you work together to progress through thrilling story-based missions or explore the farthest reaches of the intricately detailed game world.
You hear the voice of a mysterious robot named BURG.L. He seems to know what’s going on and lets you know that the machine to turn you back to normal size is currently out of order. For now, everything in the backyard is trying to kill you and it’s up to you – and up to three friends, if you’re playing co-operative multiplayer – to survive the perilous landscape.
The backyard is rife with different kinds of ants, flying insects, and spiders. You must gather, craft, and build bases from scavenged items found in the backyard, searching for life-saving resources such as the dew off grass to quench your thirst or transforming an acorn shell into body armor to defend against a host of unpredictable creatures. Can you thrive against the hordes of giant insects, fighting to survive the perils of the backyard?
Obsidian Entertainment have released the first monthly update for Grounded! With this update they are introducing a new way to enhance your character, more options to decorate your base, a new piece of armor, new quests types from BURG.L, and a new visitor to the backyard.
First up are player perks. While exploring the backyard you can unlock perks which cause small mutations to your character. With these mutations, you can cut grass faster, increase health, improve defenses, and more. Players can have up to three mutations equipped at any time, and we plan to introduce more over the course of Game Preview.
For builders, Obsidian have added fences, tables, and a new resting spot. The Sprig Fence and Acorn Picket Fence will both add a nice decorative touch to the outside of your home, while the Grass Table and Clover Table will help bring the interior together. If you want a more comfortable night of sleep, you are now able to make a bed.
Crafting a bed requires a new ingredient that can be found from a new visitor in the backyard: the bird! And if you are looking to spice up your outfit and bow attacks, a new Marksman’s Cap can be crafted from the feathers of the bird. The biggest creature in the backyard has arrived. How will this play into the adventure of the backyard?
Find out in this and future updates for Grounded.
To summarize, you want to: Go Big Or Never Go Home.
