Hyper Scape was designed from the ground up as an intense, vertical and fast-paced battle royale experience. Three-player squads and solo players can dive into the futuristic virtual city of Neo- Arcadia to engage in dynamic firefights, quickly transitioning from narrow streets to open rooftops and deadly interiors.
Hyper Scape introduces Hacks, abilities that players can loot in the world the same way they do weapons. Hacks grant offensive and defensive capabilities to suit all playstyles. Laying down a mine, seeking an enemy, protecting the squad with a big wall or turning invisible to sneak up on opponents are just a few examples of the Hacks players can combine and swap effortlessly. All Hacks and weapons can be upgraded through the Fusion mechanic to produce more powerful iterations of the pre-existing item.
Hyper Scape innovates and twists the battle royale formula in many ways, such as the unpredictable Decay which dissolves the map of Neo-Arcadia into different patterns, or the unique Echo mechanic that keeps players active in the battle even when they’re down. At the end of a Hyper Scape match, the climatic showdown phase starts when the Hyper Scape crown spawns on the map. Players have two different ways to claim victory, either by picking up and carrying the crown for 45 seconds or by being the last player or squad standing.
Ubisoft and Dark Horse Comics announced a brand-new comic, “Hyper Scape #1 The First Principle Part 1.” It was helmed by a strong creative team: Scripted by Christofer Emgård (Mirror’s Edge: Exordium, The Whispering Dark), illustrated by Gabriel Guzman (StarCraft: Survivors, Predators), colored by Michael Atiyeh (Halo: Escalation, The Orville), and lettered by Comicraft (Ghost, Conan). The free digital comic book series is developed in collaboration with Ubisoft's Hyper Scape team - the overall story itself is written by Ubisoft's Marielle Quesney and Jesse Scoble.
“We are ecstatic to be partnering with Dark Horse and expand the world of Hyper Scape beyond the game itself so players and other audiences can dive deeper into our lore,” says Jean-Christophe Guyot,Creative Director for Hyper Scape. “From the very start we’ve developed Hyper Scape not only as a Battle Royale but also a rich universe full of diverse characters and mysteries to unfold. Comics are for us the perfect medium to tell those stories so we’re very excited to release our first one today!”
“Working with the team at Ubisoft to create a comics series that is being released along with the seasons of the actual game has been a challenge, but with the enthusiasm on both sides for such a cool and unique concept it has been a real pleasure. I hope players of the game enjoy the added experience of the comics.” — Freddye Miller, Editor at Dark Horse Comics.
Based on a video game played by millions of people worldwide, “Hyper Scape #1 The First Principle Part 1” immerses readers in a dystopian future. This is the year 2054. The world has turned darker over the last three decades, with 10 billion people now suffocating in mega-cities. A megacorporation called Prisma Dimensions created a massive and ubiquitous digital world, the HYPER SCAPE. People have found solace in this virtual landscape where they can access recreation, entertainment, and social community in the blink of an eye. An upgrade to the system is about to be unveiled, revolutionizing the experience . . . but at what cost?
“Hyper Scape #1 The First Principle Part 1” is the first issue in a free digital series made up of twelve ten-page comics to be released monthly starting today. It is available on the Hyper Scape website as well Dark Horse Digital, Comixology, and other digital comics websites.
