'Madden NFL 21' (ALL) Celebrates NFL KickOff With Free To Play Trial And Celebrity Tailgate

Go All Out in Madden NFL 21 with innovative gameplay mechanics that offer advanced levels of control and inspire creativity on both sides of the ball.

Feel all-out control with the new Skill Stick ball-carrier system, dominate the edge with fresh pass rush moves, experience more open-field realism with tackle improvements, and have more fun with user-controlled celebrations.

Madden NFL 21 will bring players closer to the field than ever before with an unrivaled football experience and innovative gameplay including improved ball-carrier mechanics for all out control in the running back and receiver positions and enhanced D-Line mechanics that make the pass rush positions more responsive, and fun to play. Plus, Realistic Open-Field Tackling will allow for clutch defensive stops, and new player-controlled celebrations after each game changing play combine to make the gridiron experience even more true to life. Outside of all the new control players will have in-game, some of the biggest changes will arrive in the overall authenticity and presentation with new on field camera shots and improved player awareness of their positioning and surroundings on the field. 

Also new to Madden NFL 21 is Face of the Franchise: Rise to Fame, a playable documentary career campaign where players create themselves and play through their rise to fame from high school as a quarterback, to college where they can choose to pivot to running back or wide receiver, before experiencing the NFL Combine, NFL Draft, and cementing their legacy in the League. In addition, fans can expect more than 50 new Superstar X-Factor abilities, Live Playbooks 2.0, and a brand-new season of Ultimate Team content, along with other new features.

Electronic Arts unveiled NFL MVP and Baltimore Ravens Quarterback Lamar Jackson on the cover of EA Sports Madden NFL 21 across all editions withfranchise-first artwork that reflects Jackson’s unique NFL journey.

Madden NFL 21 is celebrating the return of the National Football League (NFL) with a Free to Play Trial, welcoming all players to the virtual gridiron Thursday, September 10 through Sunday, September 13.

Football fans can jump into Madden NFL 21 on the Xbox One, PS4 and PC via Steam for free throughout the weekend to experience the full game, explore the all-new gameplay improvements and enjoy the popular new backyard football-inspired mode, The Yard*.

Leading up to the first game of the NFL season and launch of the Free to Play Weekend, EA SPORTS is also presenting the Madden NFL 21 Tailgate on the NFL YouTube channel at 5:30pm ET on September 10. Headlined by a Madden NFL 21 matchup between Snoop Dogg vs. Dr. Disrespect and appearances by Hannibal Buress, Marshawn Lynch, Michael Vick, Nigel Sylvester and more, the tailgate will feature celebrities playing Madden NFL 21, sharing their favorite football stories, and other tailgating staples. 

This weekend, the millions of Madden NFL 21 players can also celebrate the addition of a breadth of new content just two weeks after launch with Madden NFL 21 | SZN1: HI-DEF. Madden Seasons deliver live service content and in-game updates all year long, giving players a reason to keep coming back to play, including weekly gear drops and limited edition designs by partners that were also inspired by NFL superstar athletes, new locations to play in The Yard, fresh Madden Ultimate Team (MUT) programs, new experiences  and a lot more. SZ1: HI-DEF starts September 10 highlighted by the Nike 99 Club and Brotherhood gear collections and the addition of Bo Field at Nike HQ in the Yard, as well as the start of the MUT Ultimate Kickoff program. 

The Madden NFL football festivities continue after week 1 of the NFL, and each week during the season, starting on Tuesday, September 15 with the premiere of two new Madden NFL 21 Championship Series (MCS21) programs - King of the Hill and Derwin James vs. The World - Presented by Oakley on Madden NFL Twitch and YouTube. Across the two programs, Falcons AJ Terrell and Raiders Henry Ruggs will go head-to-head on King of The Hill and Chargers Derwin James will take on rapper Lil Baby on Derwin James vs. The World.

In addition, this year, EA Sports will deliver distinct Madden NFL 21 experiences across current and next generation platforms. Through partnerships with Sony and Microsoft, EA Sports will offer Dual Entitlement, creating ways for players who purchase either an Xbox Series X or PlayStation 5 to upgrade** their copy of Madden NFL 21 from prior generation Xbox One or PS4 platforms at no additional cost. This offer will be in place all the way through the Madden NFL 21 season, up to the release of Madden NFL 22, so players can upgrade whenever they first purchase their new console within that period. Offer exceptions apply. Physical discs cannot currently be used to upgrade to discless consoles.

Madden NFL 21 will be available for PS4, Xbox One and PC (Origin and Steam) on August 28, 2020, while Madden NFL 21 Mobile will available for download in the App Store and Google Play on August 6, 2020 with a brand-new app. Plus, Madden NFL will land on Stadia - Google’s cloud-based gaming platform this winter. PS5 and Xbox Series X versions will be available at a later time.
