Seven months have passed since a deadly virus hit New York City and the rest of the world, crippling the population. When the virus hit, The Division, a unit of civilian sleeper agents, was activated as the last line of defense. Since then, Division agents have been fighting relentlessly to save what remains.
For The Division, the stakes are higher than ever. Washington, D.C. – the most heavily protected city on earth – is at risk, leaving the entire nation on the brink of collapse. If Washington, D.C., is lost, then the nation falls. As a Division agent who has been in the field for seven months, you and your team are the last hope to stop the fall of society after the pandemic collapse.
Tom Clancy's The Division 2 is an online open world, action shooter RPG experience set in a collapsing and fractured Washington, D.C. This rich new setting combines a wide variety of beautiful, iconic, and realistic environments where the player will experience the series' trademark for authenticity in world building, rich RPG systems, and fast-paced action like never before. Play solo or co-op with a team of up to four players to complete a wide range of activities, from the main campaign and adversarial PvP matches to the Dark Zone – where anything can happen.
Agents,
With the launch of Season 7, we continue to see a great level of activity and conversations from the community. We've been happy to see new players join the fray as they dive into the End of Watch manhunt for the first time, while our veteran players are gearing up to face Faye Lau once again.
In the meantime, we also are aware that that many of you are eagerly waiting for more information about the future of the game.
Today, we would like to provide you some updates regarding the current state of the game as well as some early insights on what is coming next for The Division 2.
Current state of the game
We know that we have been particularly quiet in the recent months, and we would like to first take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support and trust.
Earlier this year, we shared our commitment to continue to support The Division 2 and work with new partners within Ubisoft to keep on improving the game experience for all our players. Since then, our team has been hard at work to develop exciting new content with a new game mode as well as significant endgame changes & features.
While plans were still being actively discussed at that point, it was critical for us to give you some early insights about what would come next for the game. Since then, we made various iterations on the plans and actively challenged ourselves not to compromise on quality and ambitions for this new content. This title Update will be one of our most ambitious to date.
We remain confident that this content will bring an exciting experience to our players and pave the way for the future of The Division 2 with future title updates coming in 2022. That being said, and to make sure we deliver this content on par with our vision, we have made the decision to move our new season, game mode and associated content release to February 2022.
This additional time will allow our passionate development team to deliver the best quality for this new content. Of course, we will in the meantime continue to support the game and work on most pressing live issues.
The Road Ahead
While it is too early to share all details about this update, we want to leverage this opportunity to give you a heads-up about how we will move forward and what to expect in the months to come.
First off, we are excited to bring back the Intelligence Annex initiative. On a monthly basis, and until the big reveal of this update, we will release dedicated in-depth articles to detail key features and changes.
The first episode will be released as soon as this Thursday and will feature an introduction from Trick Dempsey, Expert Game Designer, about one of the key changes from the next update: the Specialization Revamp. Stay tuned to know more about the future ones!
At the end of Season 7 in December, we will be organizing an in-game event, reintroducing some player-favourite global events, associated with new rewards and an apparel event. We will reveal more information about this event closer to its availability date.
Last but not least, the reveal of the new Season and its associated content, including the new game mode, will happen in January 2022. We can't wait to tell you more about the whole content of this update! To make sure we are building the best experience, we will also organise a dedicated PTS period on PC to collect your feedback and help us put the finishing touches before the release.
In Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 Warlords of New York, Division Agents will go on the ultimate manhunt for Aaron Keener, a former Division Agent who has now gone rogue. Keener, along with his network of Rogue Agents, is now a major threat to the burgeoning rebirth of civilization. To track down Keener, Agents will roam the untamed living open world of Lower Manhattan; a former Dark Zone that was recently hit by a devastating hurricane that hit New York City harder than anywhere else in the US. Agents are tasked to explore new zones, each with iconic locations such as Two Bridges, Chinatown, and Wall Street. To get to Keener, players must take down each of his Rogue Agents. Each Rogue Agent has their own unique back story and skill – which you gain once you take them down.
After taking the time to hear and gather community feedback, core gameplay enhancements have been implemented across various topics such as build diversity, gear streamlining and even more meaningful loot.
Along with The Division 2 Warlords of New York, Title Update 8 will include an RPG overhaul, allowing players to better read and manage their gear inventory. The UI screen will be updated to always show the roll ranges for each stat on a piece of gear or weapon. The overhaul also includes the return of god rolls, improving readability and helping players make better decisions on the gear’s usefulness to their build. Additionally, players will see a more streamlined gear recalibration system, with item and stat usefulness indicators, as well as permanent attribute and stat storage at the recalibration station. This will allow Agents the flexibility to plan the perfect build.
The existing Dark Zones in The Division 2 are also being revitalized, returning to a simpler rogue mechanic. The focus is on rewarding player-to-player interaction, whether it's fighting against each other or helping a fellow Agent against a tough Rogue player.
In The Division 2 Warlords of New York, the players’ level cap will increase from Level 30 to Level 40, but it doesn’t stop there. The Division 2 Warlords of New York is also introducing an infinite progression system, the SHD level, and 4 new skills that can be used throughout the game. Owners of the expansion will also get access to new gear and new weapons.
Warlords of New York is a narrative-driven expansion for Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 and available on Xbox One, PS4, PC and Ubisoft’s subscription service UPLAY+.
