Apex Legends delivers a squad-based battle royale experience with a uniquely Respawn flavor. Players will select from one of eight Legends - each with their own unique abilities and playstyles - and the last team standing wins. Combatants can choose from unique characters like Bloodhound, the tracker who can see recent enemy activity on the map, or Lifeline, a battlefield medic who can shield teammates and bring them back from the brink of death. Balanced squads and teamwork are critical, as each Legend is easy to pick up and learn, but challenging to master.
Apex Legends showcases several new genre-leading innovations, starting before players even start the match. Once players are ready to begin, they’ll choose their drop point with the Jumpmaster system, giving each squad full control over exactly where they drop in. Is it smarter to head straight for the most valuable loot and risk early conflict with other teams, or make for one of the outlying areas to plot an attack and let other squads pick each other off?
Apex Legends: Escape will introduce a variety of new game changing updates that will shake up the competition of the Apex Games.
The next major update to Apex Legends will introduce a familiar face as the game’s newest Legend: Ash. More than just the overseer of Arenas, and now, fully rebuilt, Ash is a simulacrum made from the woman who once was Dr. Ashleigh Reid. A trace of Leigh still remains within Ash, igniting its own connections to another Doctor in the Arena.
Known across the Outlands as a ruthless killer, one completely unburdened by consciousness, new Legend Ash brings a familiar face to the Apex Games. Entering the games on November 2 with the launch of Apex Legends: Escape, Ash is a simulacrum pilot made from the woman who once was Dr. Ashleigh Reid and now she’s on a mission to eliminate every trace of weakness that held her back as a human. Now more than just the overseer or Arenas, see how Ash’s abilities can make crossing her a fatal mistake
Ash becomes the 19th Legend with the launch of Apex Legends: Escape, wreaking havoc to the Apex Games with her lethal powers, including:
- Passive - Marked for Death: When an enemy dies, Ash will be able to see the location of their Deathbox on the map, allowing her to identify where enemies are likely to go next; once she reaches a deathbox, she can her dataknife on them to find where the attackers are at that moment.
- Tactical - Arc Tether: Inspired by her old Ronin Titan, Ash will throw a spinning snare that damages and tethers the first enemy who gets too close for a short duration of time. If the Arc Tether hits a surface like the ground or a door, it will stay alive as a "trap" for a few seconds.
- Ultimate - Phase Breach: Ash uses her sword to tear open a one-way portal towards a targeted location. Once the portal is open, Ash immediately begins traveling through it, though allies (and enemies) have some time to follow her through.
Apex Legends: Escape will feature a new Battle Pass offering limited skins and rewards that Legends can unlock by completing challenges and leveling up -- along with a new Ranked Season kicking off when Escape launches on November 2 for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC (Origin and Steam).
The innovations don’t stop there as Apex Legends also delivers Respawn Beacons, one-time use locations where defeated teammates can be revived, a contextual Ping communication system that allows players to call out enemies, weapons, locations and more with the push of a button, and an intelligent inventory system which automatically attaches gear and equipment to the appropriate weapons once players pick them up. All together it creates a battle royale experience unlike any other, complete with Respawn’s commitment to top-notch quality and fun.
Apex Legends is now available on Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
