'Gensou Skydrift' (ALL) Comes To PS4 Next Month - Screens & Trailer

by Rainier on Feb. 15, 2021 @ 9:47 a.m. PST

Race through mystical Gensokyo as a pair of powerful ladies riding each other’s backs to take on the twists and turns of more than 15 tracks.

Choose two of 22 characters, each with her own drive handling stats and power ups, to ride on each other’s backs as driver and vehicle. Swap between them on the fly to glide through the twists and turns of the tracks and wield the right spell at the perfect moment to lap the competition.

Each character’s exclusive deck of spell cards is packed with abilities based on her traditional Touhou Project traits. Zip through hoops on the track to boost speed and gain mana. Drawing spell cards at full mana pulls more powerful spells capable of slowing down opponents' speed, shooting around corners to hit dodging rivals, or jumping into the air on the back of the wind to avoid obstacles.

Dive into the magical narrative in Story Mode, battle for the best lap in Time Attack, or face the competition in Versus Mode, which hosts leagues of high-flying action in online multiplayer against up to seven opponents. Speed through the fantasy realm of Gensokyo, filled with charming creatures, flora and multicolored skies depicted in 3D in this fan-made entry in the Guiness World Record-holding Touhou Project franchise.

Navigate more than 20 tracks, each featuring a stunning view of Gensokyo, including paths filled with cherry blossom trees and a nighttime course with beautiful views of the realm’s skyline. Be the first to cross the finish line against computer-controlled opponents in Story or Time Attack modes, or face up to seven other teams online or locally in Versus mode.

Two new characters and two new courses will make their GENSOU Skydrift debut in both the new PlayStation version and now-available Nintendo Switch and Steam versions. Beloved Touhou characters Alice Margatroid and Rin Kaenbyou will be playable in all versions on March 9. Race through vibrant cherry blossoms in the Heaven course, and through a futuristic city in Redevelopment Area B.

“Racing games can be intimidating to break into, but a game made by fans and featuring a cute and colorful cast can help change that perception,” said EIKI, lead developer, illuCalab. “GENSOU Skydrift melds the best of a beloved genre with the magic and lore of the Touhou Project to create a game which hides depth and strategy beneath a veneer of simplicity.”

Currently available for Nintendo Switch and PC (Steam), Gensou SkyDrift is coming to PS4 (backwards compatibility on PS5) on March 9, 2021 for $23.99 USD/€ 21.99. It will support English, Japanese, and Chinese (Simplified and Traditional).
