'Prim' Launches Kickstarter Campaign - Trailer

by Rainier on Feb. 16, 2021 @ 8:32 a.m. PST

Prim is a creepy-but-cute 2D point and click adventure game in which you play as Prim, Death's daughter, on her journey through the Land of the Dead.

Prim's unique story idea is supported by black-and-white, Tim Burtony visuals.

Over the ages, he's been called by many names: Thanatos, the Grim Reaper, the Pale Rider, the Angel of Death… Who would have guessed that the most frightening of them all - at least to him - would be "Dad"? Every night, Death’s teenage daughter Prim has the same dream: An oddly familiar human boy cries out for her help. Needless to say that our heroine tries to answer the call. There’s just one tiny problem: The Grim Reaper has strictly forbidden her to enter the Realm of the Living – she’s not ready for the immense power she’d develop there, he claims. Unfortunately, when Prim finds a way to trick her father and travel to Earth, it painfully turns out that Thanatos’s presentiments have been right all along…

To make the full version of PRIM a reality, we need YOUR help!

Developer Common Colors has launched a Prim kickstarter campaign, looking to raise $21,244.

Of course, you get something in return for putting your trust in us! Apart from the game itself, the backer rewards include digital perks like an artbook and the game’s soundtrack, but also some physical rewards, such the big box version of the game and our adorable Prim dolls. And there’s much more:

If you back PRIM within the first 24 hours (until Feb 17, 5pm, CET), you’ll be able to purchase the two core reward tiers with a special early-bird discount:

Death's daughter - €13 (instead of €16)

  • Receive backer updates
  • 4 x 4k wallpapers
  • PRIM (download, Steam-key or DRM-free)
  • Your name in the credits

Death's daughter DELUXE - €19 (instead of €22)

  • Receive backer updates
  • 4 x 4k wallpapers
  • PRIM (download, Steam-key or DRM-free)
  • Your name in the credits

Furthermore, we’ve prepared a couple of physical rewards for you. All of them are hand-made by indie artists and thus strictly limited!

  • The BIG BOX version of the game comes in a hand-made wooden coffin!
  • Our hand-made Prim doll comes in two sizes and with individual facial expressions!

The PRIM demo is now available through Steam, itch.io and GameJolt for Windows, Max and Linux!

Play as Death’s daughter and switch between the Land of the Dead and the Realm of the Living, solve puzzles, meet restless souls and finally uncover a carefully-hidden secret…

Being a modern contribution to the genre on the outside, but a classical adventure game at heart, PRIM combines beautifully hand-drawn, full HD backgrounds and characters à la “Deponia” with the challenging puzzles and self-reflective humor found in classics like “Monkey Island”. Likewise, a complex and gripping narrative goes hand in hand with a simple one-click interface. On top of it all lies an epic, orchestral soundtrack supported by professional voice acting. What makes the game stand out, at least in our opinion, is the distinctive art style developed by our lead artist, Mexican comic artist Oskar Alvarado, an expert for the dark and macabre.

Key Features:

  • Hand-drawn HD artwork and traditional frame-by-frame animation
  • Simple one-click interface
  • 6-8 hours of varied gameplay
  • Atmospheric orchestral soundtrack
  • Control multiple characters
  • In-game hint system, hot-spots and fast-travel
  • Mini games, such as a deck-building card game
  • DRM-free or Steam key!

Prim is in development for PC and Mac, scheduled for 2022.
