'This Land Is My Land' Early Access Update Adds New Survival/Realism Features, Player-Requested Changes

by Rainier on March 23, 2021 @ 6:06 p.m. PDT

This Land Is My Land is an open world stealth action game with a living hostile environment which evolves over time independently from player actions.

There are multiple ways to achieve your objectives. In addition to that, every playthrough will be unique because the world will change every time you restart the game.  Cities will grow differently, camps will develop in altered places, and patrols will take new routes.

Your beautiful world has changed - incoming settlers are leaving no place for you. You have to be prepared and actively fight against it if you want to take back your land. The maze is real and something dangerous and exciting will always surprise you on every step and behind every corner.

Game mechanics will treat you as an intelligent adult who can make smart decisions to overcome our cooperative AI, that intelligently reacts to threats and changing surroundings.

The American frontier can be a lawless and wild place, filled with unknown dangers, unexplored territories, and uncontrollable elements.

To enhance the experiences of such threats, we’ve crafted brand new survival features that will challenge the seasoned survivalist in you*. We also read your smoke signals sent to us from across the plains of Discord, Steam, and social media and have used them to implement further game changes and improvements listed below.

* Please note that all new survival features can be toggled in the new resistance creation window.

Realistic Needs

Thirst, Hunger, Fatigue, Illness—these basic human needs will come into play as you make your way across the frontier: Hunt, source, and craft food to satisfy your hunger and rest near any lit campfire. Protect yourself from and make remedies for a variety of diseases that existed in real-life 19th century America.

Realistic Damage

Heavy bleeding?! Broken limb?! After high demand, Realistic Damage is now available to add another level of realism and danger to your “This Land Is My Land” experience. Every character, including the chief, will suffer from combat aftermaths on different body parts and various effects such as shock and infections, where each will require quick action to overcome them or die. We’ve also added lungs, heart, and testicles to enemies, and when you hit these parts, they will cause extra damage and deal heavy bleeding.

New Treatment System

Many exposed and hidden threats lie and wait in the new world; Realistic Damage brings debuffs from enemies' shots, and eating raw meat or drinking dirty water could leave you with Typhoid or Parasites! Recover from various illnesses, wounds, and injuries with our brand new Treatment System, using bandages, medicines, and more that are available to you all over the frontier. You'll have to fight to live in harmony with the new earth...

Realistic Nights

Whether you want to ride across the moon-lit plains or crouch stealthily in the shadows, the new toggleable Realistic Nights mode adds another layer of immersion to the game. Turned on, this will make nights in-game quite dark and realistic, improving immersion for the most hardcore player.

Alcoholic Drinks

A new type of settlement was added—Brewery. It produces a different kind of alcoholic drink that can be pretty useful in light of new features and can bring quite impressive side effects. Said effects are only available in the new Realistic Needs and Damage modes.

Caches with Loot

Many treasures can be found across the new world for those who are willing to explore them. Caches filled with loot are now more prominent throughout the map, and you can find them by exploring or interrogating enemies. During the interrogation, the enemies will tell you where the loot is buried near the settlement.

New Types of Bears, Wolves, and Boars

Bears, wolves, boars, oh my! There are now new types of bears, wolves, and boars to encounter that can be slain and looted for new and exciting items!

Customize Your Resistance

You can now choose the type of resistance you want to lead with our brand new Resistance Creation Menu! Select from the existing presets that range from Classic to Immersive Hardcore Realistic Survival mode, play at your own pace and preference, or check the options under settings and personalize your experience. World Bosses will bring new challenges, experiences, and items.

And much more!

Here are some additional features added to the game that has been asked for by our community:

  • The option to choose the size of your game world.
  • Varying enemy reaction times from Default, to Fast, to Realistic.

  • The option to enable/disable Fast Travel.

  • The prices of some items in trading posts have been changed.
  • The weight of all items has been changed to make it more realistic.

  • In hardcore mode, after death, you will see the following statistics: how many days you lasted, number of lands retrieved, number of skill points earned, number of enemies interrogated, how many enemies you intimidated, and kill count.
  • Now in the tab menu, you can see the effects of recently used food/drinks at the bottom.
  • You can drink and collect water near the water jugs in Realistic Needs mode if you are in a friendly or neutral camp. You can also drink and collect water near buckets and barrels in many enemy settlements. From rivers, you can drink/collect both clean and dirty water.
  • Multiple new animations have been added.
  • Numerous new settlements have been added.
  • Fixed a bug where the functions of interacting with the world and enemies were not displayed in some players' game worlds.

We’re also delighted to reveal a sneak peek into some of the things we’re working on next!

Base Building System

Many of you have asked us if This Land Is My Land will have a base-building feature; we heard you! In the next major update, you will build your Native American camps using the new base-building system.

Women In This Land Is My Land

Due to popular demand, we are now looking into adding women into the game, though we are yet to decide to what extent; we have taken the community’s input to heart and are swiftly acting on it. There are many aspects to work on for such a feature, from new animations to model designs, so please understand this will take a bit of time until it is ready.

Trains And More Related Features

We are also adding a train to the game that players can interact and see in their maps. So stay tuned for more information on this exciting update.

Lastly, we would like to thank everyone who took part in the closed testing of this update, the players who helped translate the game to different languages, and the community for all the feedback and patience! We worked on this massive update of This Land Is My Land for all of you! We are already excited about the ones to come in the future!

Key Features:

  • Living developing world that grows on its own constantly trying to counter player actions to win the game.
  • World will grow differently every time you start the game: towns and camps will grow differently, patrols will change routes, enemies behavior will change
  • Enemies will learn and react to your actions intelligently so you will have to change your strategy on the fly.
