'Blade & Soul' Is Getting Unreal Engine 4 Update This Summer

by Rainier on March 4, 2021 @ 7:30 a.m. PST

Blade & Soul is an Asian Martial Arts MMORPG that breaks the traditional confined and monotonous game plays, providing the gamers a completely new experience.

Blade & Soul delivers an engaging story and vibrant world for players to explore. In the game, players must fight to avenge the death of their fallen master in a classic Wuxia storyline. Wuxia, which literally means "martial hero", is a broad genre of Chinese fiction concerning the adventures of martial artists in ancient China. As players explore the world in Blade & Soul, they will see a fusion of Asian cultures that delivers stunning landscapes and vistas.

Blade & Soul defies typical MMO conventions, delivering action-based combat with ability combos and a flexible party role system that does not require dedicated healers. It gives players unprecedented movement abilities around the world as their characters leap over mountains and fly through the air.

This summer, Blade & Soul will be upgraded to Unreal Engine 4 visuals. The change in the game engine will bring improved performance to Blade & Soul, reducing lag and loading times, and adding depth and clarity to in-game graphics. The Unreal Engine 4 update will apply to the live service of the game later this summer, and players will keep their progression once the update goes live.

The Unreal Engine 4 upgrade is not the only big content update happening for Blade & Soul this year, on the horizon is a new character class, third specializations for existing classes, new dungeons, and new systems.
