'Instruments Of Destruction' Announced, Early Access Planned - Screens & Trailer

by Rainier on April 26, 2021 @ 5:26 p.m. PDT

Instruments Of Destruction is a vehicle-building sandbox featuring advanced physics-based destruction.

Create crazy construction vehicles and use them to demolish buildings and complete various objectives.

You can demolish every structure in the game piece by piece. In addition, every object you see in the game world--save for small decorative plants and rocks--is part of the physics system. Each element of the world interacts with each other and together they create a physical, visceral world to play with.

Build a vehicle your way, with an ever-expanding array of parts and pieces. Using an intuitive vehicle construction system that also lets you customize your vehicles' appearance and controls, you'll always have fun creating your next awesome invention.

From simple splitters to advanced joints, a variety of parts slowly unlock as you play through the game, and each unlocks countless new possibilities.

While some vehicles will perform better than others in accomplishing your objectives, it's always a bit more fun to get creative and go a little off script. Optional bonus challenges and objectives will reward more creative builders and add more replayability.

"Before going solo a decade ago, I worked on Red Faction: Guerrilla from 2004-2009, and I've always wanted to work on another game with that kind of advanced destruction system," said Radiangames' Luke Schneider.

Instruments Of Destruction will be available through Steam Early Access in Q4 2021 and will remain so for at least a year, with multiple years a possibility.

“The game is a work-in-progress, and currently has 40+ parts to build vehicles with, and 4 polished levels. Before launching into Early Access (planned for late 2021), the number of levels will be increased significantly, and some game systems (such as objective tracking and audio) will be added/improved. This section will be updated to reflect its release state before the game enters Early Access.”

“The full version will likely add more levels, objectives, and vehicle parts. Aside from new and improved content, editors for structures, levels, and islands are also on the wishlist for features.”

Key Features:

  • ADVANCED PHYSICS-BASED DESTRUCTION - You can demolish every structure in the game piece by piece. In addition, every object you see in the game world--save for small decorative plants and rocks--is part of the physics system. Each element of the world interacts with each other and together they create a physical, visceral world to play with.
  • BUILD UNIQUE VEHICLES - Build a vehicle your way, with an ever-expanding array of parts and pieces. Using an intuitive vehicle construction system that also lets you customize your vehicles' appearance and controls, you'll always have fun creating your next awesome invention.
  • SINGLEPLAYER CAMPAIGN + PROGRESSION - The first time you unlock a level, you will be provided with everything you need to complete simple objectives, and will be required to use certain parts and adhere to certain limits.
  • HARDCORE MODE - Complete a level in the campaign, and you'll unlock the same level in sandbox mode, and later it will become available in hardcore mode. Hardcore is similar to the main campaign, but will use more timers, add more difficult objectives, and limit the parts in different ways.
  • SANDBOX MODE - Finally, sandbox mode lets you use any unlocked part, and as many parts as you want (up to your current max based on progression), to complete more relaxed challenges on any completed level, or to just build and destroy stuff for fun.
  • FUTURE PLANS - Those 3 modes will be present at EA launch, but additional features and content will be added during Early Access. Additional details will be coming as new features are nearing completion.

Instruments Of Destruction is coming to PC (Steam).
