A Rogue Escape is a reimagining of 2019's IndieCade nominated rogue-lite puzzle game Nauticrawl, which tasked players with commandeering a hulking machine, learning how to use its seemingly inscrutable control deck and piloting it to safety.
Your plan is simple - steal a nauticrawl, evade capture, and make a break for freedom. There's just one problem... you don't know how to move this hunk of metal. Take command of a 4-story crawling mech known as a nauticrawl.
The catch? The gargantuan machine is a tightly-packed array of switches, buttons, screens and levers. The only chance of escape is to figure out the function of each and use them wisely to pilot this lumbering beast off of the wretched planet.
Using clues left behind by former operators, players will navigate five distinct control centres, mastering mechanics and solving puzzles to progress through A Rogue Escape's tense story.
But beware, getting it moving is just the first hurdle...
A Rogue Escape builds on the tense escape room feel of Spare Parts Oasis’ first title Nauticrawl, offering a truly genre-busting challenge. Developer Spare Parts Oasis partnered with VR development studio, Sylphe Labs, to reimagine the titular Nauticrawl as a completely 3D inhabitable space. The game can be enjoyed standing or sitting, with little spare room required to play.
"With A Rogue Escape, I got the rare opportunity to realize my childhood dream of what it would really feel like to be inside a mysterious machine, surrounded by buttons and levers to experiment with, while danger lurks outside of the riveted metallic walls! Combining an escape room with dungeon crawling and cockpit simulation was a daring concept back when I did this on PC with my previous title Nauticrawl, but somehow it feels right at home with a headset on and a fully immersive and tactile environment to experience. I just feel truly excited to share this unique adventure with all VR players willing to be challenged by this colossal machine!," said Spare Parts Oasis' Andrea Interguglielmi.
