Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint is a military shooter set in a diverse and hostile open world entirely playable solo or in up to four-player co-op. Players will discover Auroa, a mysterious island where the most technically advanced facilities meet wild and untamed nature. Home to drone creators, tech giant Skell Technology, Auroa has fallen into the wrong hands and all contact has been lost.
The Wolves, a lethal ex–US Military unit of former Ghosts gone rogue, have taken over the island. Led by Nomad’s ex-brother-in-arms, Lt. Colonel Cole D. Walker, portrayed by Jon Bernthal, they have reprogrammed Skell’s drones into killing machines and are ready to use them, no matter the casualties. Nomad and the Ghosts are sent in on a recon mission, but their helicopters are shot down. Injured, without support, and hunted down, players will live an intense military experience as they fight to survive, take down the Wolves and regain control of Auroa.
Steep slopes, accumulating injuries, and fatigue are new challenges for players to tackle as they test their survival skills in the varied terrains of Auroa. To overcome adversity, players will enjoy total freedom to accomplish their missions and have plenty of tactical options and tools at their disposal, including a set of new military features. They will be able to carry enemies and teammates’ bodies, blend into their environment with prone camo and set up camp with teammates in the bivouac to manage equipment, change classes, and fine-tune their strategies.
They will also be able to choose among thousands of customization combinations to create their perfect Ghost, and keep their character and progression through the game in both the main campaign and Player-versus-player (PvP), available at launch.
Ubisoft announced that an all-new AI Teammate Experience update will be coming to Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint as part of Title Update 4.0.0, launching free for all players on May 25.
The AI Teammate Experience update will consist of an all-new progression loop, allowing players to improve their AI teammates, earn unique rewards and unlock challenges to complete. Players will now be able to level up their AI teammates, which will unlock tactical upgrades and better prepare them for combat.
Teammates will now have a common Team Level and a common XP bar called Team XP which can be leveled up just by playing the game with AI teammates activated or by completing the Teammate Challenges. To track teammate progression, players can find a new progression bar at the top of the screen, displaying XP gained, Nomad’s level gauge and teammates’ level gauge. Additionally, once teammates have leveled up, an animation will appear on screen, informing players of newly unlocked upgrades. Players will also have 14 new challenges to tackle, which will grant both Team XP and cosmetic rewards.
To upgrade and customize teammates, players will be able to navigate a dedicated menu, showing teammate level XP, upgrades and challenges. Players will be able to unlock 14 upgrades for their AI Teammates:
- Three Active Abilities unique to each teammate including Piercing Shot, Scan and Combat Drone
- Two Active Abilities shared across teammates including Extra Revival and Fragmentation Grenades
- Nine Passive Abilities for increased damage or resilience
Title Update 4.0.0 will introduce more than just the leveling system. Players will now be able to adjust their squad with one, two, or three teammates, customize Rainbow teammates, hide AI teammates’ secondary weapon and more.
Title Update 4.0.0 is the first of two title updates announced as part of Ghost Recon Breakpoint’s Year 2 Roadmap.
Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint is currently available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC, as well the Google Stadia gaming platform.
