What a beautiful garden, the sunbeams dapple as they reflect off the pond, the grass sways gently, a few insects buzz gently around the bushes. Zoom in. No, zoom in more. Just a little more. Until the trees become skyscrapers and even blades of grass tower over you, flowers become explosions of colour and a pond becomes a sea. The sight alone, is breath-taking. And then there’s the noise, it’s full of noise down here, a squadron of wasps zoom overhead, their buzzing drowning out the swish of the wind and the sing-song chatter of the birds.

Suddenly, this place is no Eden. Danger lurks behind every corner, insects the size of double decker buses, venomous dragonfly and dinosaur sized rodents after a morsel of meat. And that’s before the weather takes its toll. Raindrops that smash into the ground around you like grenades, winds that can whip you into the air and deadly hailstones dropping like a meteor shower from a disaster movie.

In Smalland players will be tasked with the expansion of their peoples’ territory across a wild, unforgiving, and ever-changing world where everything is overgrown by plant and animal life. From the perspective of a tiny insect, players will experience life from the bottom of the food chain, foraging for resources from local flora and fauna to survive. Players will climb skyscraper-sized trees, build rudimentary shelters (at the start), craft powerful armor with unique abilities, complete quests to aid their people, and discover seemingly abandoned locations now reclaimed by nature.

Welcome to Smalland.

Play against the environment solo or with other players, customize your character, build structures and buildings anywhere you like and set out to conquer these lands. You will undertake quests that will grant materials and resources needed to craft more weapons, armor, and buildings. In your travels, you will learn of the varied factions that inhabit the lands, with each faction taking influence from certain creatures such as ants or bees. 

Smalland will have its next beta round at the end of July. People hoping for the chance to participate should go to the official Smalland Discord. 

Smalland is set to launch into early access this year on Steam and Epic Games Store.

The current Early Access version has a fully playable solo or co-op game with creatures, mounts, collectable armor sets and quests set within the towering world of Smalland.

“We want to get everything we envisioned for  Smalland into the game. We also want to ensure that  Smalland is a game the community enjoys. To achieve both these things we believe this will take between six months and a year depending, on the user feedback.”
