'Police Stories' Finally Comes to Xbox Next Month

by Rainier on June 23, 2021 @ 2:26 p.m. PDT

Police Stories is a tactical top-down shooter forces you to make split-second decisions, and where shooting first is not an option.

Inspired by SWAT 4, Police Stories is a fresh take on top-down shooters, in which resorting to violence isn’t the only way to go. As a police officer, you need to know when to show mercy - and when there’s no way to peacefully resolve a conflict.

Police Stories is unique in its aim to recreate a tension of being a real-life cop. The placement and even the behaviour of suspects and hostages changes every run, which forces you to make split-second decisions each time you encounter a suspect. The player will need to think tactically and utilise different equipment - and not simply going in guns blazing.

Live through the story of John Rimes, a stone-cold no-nonsense police officer - and his new partner, a loud-mouthed & brash rookie cop Rick Jones. The game follows the daily grind of  two partners and friends - and what happens when they go against criminal forces bigger than they could imagine, filled with infiltrating gang hideouts, rescuing hostages, making arrests and other life-threatening situations.

Released on Nintendo Switch and PC in 2019, followed by PS4 in 2020, Police Stories is finally coming to Xbox One on July 9th.

The game will cost $14.99, but players can pre-order Police Stories starting from June 25 with a 15% discount, which will last till July 16.

Key Features:

  • The Surrender System allows you to apprehend the suspects without resorting to violence. Fire a warning shot near them, shout to get down or use a non-lethal weapon — those are just some of the ways you can make them submit.
  • Issue commands to your fellow cop Rick Jones — ask him to open locked doors, throw flashbangs or let him wield a riot shield. Play wisely, and who knows, Rick might save your life at some point!
  • High replayability comes with randomly placed criminals, hostages and evidence making every run unique. The placement changes every time you restart, leading to new interesting situations and opportunities.
  • As a law enforcement officer, you will have access to end-of-the-line police equipment. Under-the-door cameras and door blast charges to name a few.
  • Various types of lawbreakers, from small petty criminals to well organised gangs and terrorists. Each with their own unique weapons, different behaviour and shooting abilities.
  • Complex Tactical Gameplay: don’t get spotted, don't waste bullets, regularly check your surroundings and make sure to take criminals down quietly.
  • Score system favours tactical approach. Playing aggressively will more often lead to failure.
  • Local Co-op. Having a friend as a partner makes Police Stories even more fun. Couch co-op allows communication and coordination to shine!
  • Custom missions. When you are done with the main storyline or wish for a break jump into the custom missions where you specify the number of suspects on a level yourself — feel free to make the challenge as hard as you want.

Currently available for Nintendo Switch (eShop), PS4 and PC (Steam), Police Stories is coming to Xbox One on July 9, 2021 for $14,99.
