Set in a persistent open world, it is driven by a captivating sci-fi story that picks up shortly after the events of its predecessor, but instead of the previous roguelike game mechanics, the focus in EverSpace 2 will be on open world gameplay combined with classic RPG elements and extended storytelling.
Thanks to the expanded perks and a brand new class-based player ship system with dozens of models, players can also fully customize their spaceship to their individual playing style with weapons, plating, and equipment, similar to classic RPG character development. Despite all the innovations, EverSpace 2 remains true to its space shooter core and presents fast-paced space action in the well-known EverSpace style.
The story of EverSpace 2 continues from its predecessor, as you continue the story of Adam Roslin, one of the surviving cloned military space pilot. The player is faced with the remnants of his past: the cloning program has been canceled, the colonial authorities have placed a bounty on him,
Players will experience Adam’s journey as he learns what it means to transition from a clone with unlimited lives, yet persistent memories, so now that dying means the ultimate death the search for the meaning of life suddenly takes on a whole new importance. Adam’s journey will be shaped through meaningful relationships with interesting companions as he discovers that life is only worth-living if there is also something worth dying for. Fate, however, has big plans and soon the player discovers what it means to evolve from a former military clone to a truly real person.
EverSpace 2 not only creates a powerful gaming experience, but also one that is visually impressive in the beautiful infinity of space where breathtaking cinematic scenery invites - encourages - exploration.
Following a recent update to the Early Access version of EverSpace 2, RockFish Games is releasing a brand new demo that reflects much of the polish that has gone into the game since last year’s Prototype build was released. The demo, currently available on Steam, allows players to experience a significant portion of EverSpace 2’s first star system before deciding to delve headfirst into a action-packed space shooter RPG, set in a carefully hand-crafted, pseudo-open game world.
“As a 100% self-funded veteran indie dev, maximum transparency with our fans has always been at the very center of our communication. As said many times before, we have a super strong vision about the game our team is passionate about making, and we’re fully committed to the promises we made in our Kickstarter campaign,” said Michael Schade, CEO and co-founder of RockFish Games. “However, we understand that making an arguably insanely pretty space game that borrows from various iconic space shooters as well as some of the most popular open-world ARPGs and looter-shooters might create expectations way beyond what’s within our budget and our capabilities as an indie studio of 20ish developers plus a handful of highly-talented external contractors. So, even though we have hosted over 90 weekly gamedev and community streams on our Twitch and YouTube channels where we always show the latest EverSpace 2 dev build live in action and answer all sorts of burning questions from our community, we understand that the space devil can be in the space details for some hardcore space sim aficionados. Hence, we’ve decided to release a new demo that is 100% based on the most recent Early Access version so that every space pilot on the fence about pulling the trigger can check out our work without any strings attached.”
The new EverSpace 2 demo is content-gated, offering access to the first five main missions, two side missions and many random encounters, so players will have as much time as they’d like to explore every asteroid field and outlaw base in the first sector of the Ceto system. Save games will carry over from the demo to the Early Access version, so EverSpace 2 first-time pilots who want to continue the adventure can easily do so without losing game progress. However, the demo’s player level is capped to level five to ensure a compelling experience when transitioning to the full game, while, after finishing the available missions, demo pilots can grind for resources and in-game currency as long as they please to get a headstart after pulling the trigger on the full game.
EverSpace 2 is available through Steam Early Access and GOG Games in Development.
Every Friday, the RockFish Games team shows off content from their latest EverSpace 2 dev build on the RockFish Games Twitch and YouTube channel from 8 pm to 10 pm CEST / 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm EST / 11:00 am to 1:00 pm PST. Viewers even have the chance to ask questions directly to various members of the dev team, while the CEO and co-founder, Michael Schade, is almost always moderating both chats.
Khaït Nebula Teaser
In the fourth star system, Early Access pilots will encounter new and familiar alien life forms. Pilots who played the early EVERSPACE 2 prototype can look forward to the return of the popular Shadow Creatures, whose mating rituals require a little help, for which they will show their gratitude by dropping valuable resources for the player in case of a happy ending.
A variety of space stations and special locations in the Khaït Nebula await, where familiar gameplay elements are combined with new ones to offer experienced pilots new challenges without completely overwhelming less seasoned players.
In addition to raising the maximum player level and adding a set of new player perks, the autumn update will also add several chapters to the campaign. This will not only reveal new essential secrets in the EVERSPACE universe but will also put Adam Roslin and his companions to the test, where their common cause is threatened by conflicting personal interests.
The full version for PC, including Mac and native Linux support, will be released at a reasonably increased price in the first half of 2022 and come with UI and text language support for German, French, Italian, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Polish, Russian, simplified Chinese, Japanese, and Korean.
