'Rise of Humanity' Gets Steam Early Access Date - Screens & Trailer

by Rainier on Sept. 27, 2021 @ 2:17 a.m. PDT

Rise Of Humanity is a turn-based strategy deck-building game where you battle enemy bots, plan your strategy to complete missions, collect, upgrade and merge powerful cards to save humanity in this tactical turn-based game!

The Hivemind project resulted in the most powerful AI created by mankind. At the time we didn’t know better than letting it control all of our automated work force. A disaster waiting to happen as the AI went rogue.

In Rise of Humanity you take control of a band of odd heroes who so far have survived the onslaught that started 50 years ago. They have discovered that the robots the AI uses to do its bidding are getting weaker and this is the time to strike back.

Players build up a deck for each of their characters by defeating enemies and finding loot on a 3D tactical battlefield, as they try to determine the fate of humanity. The game combines elements from popular deckbuilding board games and turn-based strategy games.

Each hero (and enemy) is controlled by a deck of cards. This deck gives your characters actions during a mission. Each mission is played out on a hexagonal grid in a strategic turn-based manner. Missions are procedurally built so no mission is ever the same.

Belgian developer Cybernetic Walrus announced that Rise of Humanity will launch in Early Access on October 21, 2021 for €19.99 with two game modes: one with a narrative adventure and one that gives players three new challenges to complete every day.

''The game has a unique game mechanic and a lot of content that gives players up to hours of gameplay. In addition to that, we have a second game mode that creates three new daily missions so players can come back to practice, improve their strategy and reach a higher score every day. The scores are recorded on our leaderboards so by beating these missions, players can compete with one another and become the ultimate savior of humanity!'' Mike Coeck, CEO of Cybernetic Walrus explained.

The Early Access game will include six missions with text dialogue (voice acting planned for the full game), as well as six level environments with increasing difficulty. Players will also come across levels with enemies hidden by fog of war. They can make use of the unlimited random side missions to improve the skills of their heroes and collect more cards for them. In the central mission hub, they can heal their heroes, buy them skills, or upgrade, merge and remove cards from their decks.

Two major releases are expected during Early Access, as well as regular updates with bug fixes and new content for the daily challenges developed together with the community.

Destroying enemies and finishing missions gives you access to new cards for your heroes. You build their deck as you play the game! However if they die, they will lose their progress so every decision counts!

Will you be the one to save humanity and let it rise again from the ashes of this onslaught?

Oh and did we mention we have exploding bunnies in the game?

Rise Of Humanity is in development for PC (Steam), scheduled for 2022.
