'Neverwinter' Kicks Off The Way of the Drow Login Event, Interview with R.A. And Geno Salvatore - Trailer

by Rainier on Nov. 17, 2022 @ 6:45 p.m. PST

In Neverwinter, players choose to become one of five classic D&D classes and team up with friends or NPCs to form five-person co-op groups. Players also create their own storylines and quests utilizing a user-friendly content generation system.

Players explore the vast city of Neverwinter and its surrounding countryside, learning the vivid history of the iconic city and battling its many enemies. In Neverwinter, players can create their own quests and campaigns with the Foundry, a powerful content creation tool that allows players to seamlessly integrate their adventures in to the live game world.

They might not be the most pleasant-looking creatures, but they are definitely a fierce bunch of savage and bloodthirsty warriors. By plaguing the civilized races, Orcs have always been a major threat to humans, elves and dwarfs. Laying claim to the area in the northern half of the old Tower District, Orcs have made the Cloak Tower in Neverwinter their home.

Even the most courageous heroes will have to fight their way through the ruins of this district to put an end to the Orc domination and help restore Neverwinter to her former glory.

In celebration of Neverwinter’s Northdark Reaches recent launch and the limited time community login event, “The Way of the Drow”, that begins today, Cryptic Studios has announced that a new Neverwinter: Northdark Reaches author video interview is now available. This new interview reveals how the Neverwinter team collaborated with New York Times best-selling author and the creator of The Way of the Drow saga R.A. Salvatore and Geno Salvatore to create Northdark Reaches, the new Way of the Drow-inspired major update for the game that’s available now for free on PC and consoles.

Check out the interview aboveto get behind-the-scenes details on the new module’s development, and even get a tease of what’s to come in the next module launching next year!

Neverwinter’s 24th module, Northdark Reaches is now available on PC (Arc GamesEpic Games Store and Steam) and PlayStation and Xbox consoles, and introduces the first part of a two-part storyline and campaign written in collaboration with New York Times best-selling author and prolific D&D writer R.A. Salvatore and Geno Salvatore.

This epic new story for Neverwinter will let players and D&D fans alike experience the events that take place in between Starlight Enclave and Glacier’s Edge, the first two books of R.A. Salvatore’s The Way of the Drow trilogy book series. For the first time ever, players will encounter new Dungeons & Dragons fan-favorite Forgotten Realms characters, such as the myconid Rumpadump, Saribel Xorlarrin Do’Urden, Minolin Fey (shown in the image below) and more.

This module marks the second collaboration between R.A. Salvatore and Cryptic Studios as the two collaborated on content for UnderdarkNeverwinter’s 8th module in 2015.

In this update for Neverwinter, players discover that far beneath the storied mountains of Faerûn lie the Northdark Reaches, a sprawling frontier that skirts the Underdark’s fallen civilization of Ched Nasad. It is in this deadly and forgotten place that Braelin Janquay, a friend of dwarven king, Bruenor Battlehammer, and one of Bregan D’aerthe’s most illustrious drow scouts, has gone missing. To help King Bruenor and uncover the secrets behind the looming drow civil war, players will descend into a whole new region of Underdark. The Northdark Reaches module marks just the beginning for the darkness that’s yet to come, as the next module – launching next year – will bring the epic conclusion to this new storyline.

Heroes brave enough to answer King Bruenor’s call for aid will discover plenty of new content within Neverwinter, including the first persistent Underdark Adventure Zone. Players will discover new quests, fight challenging bosses – including heroic encounters -- and unearth helpful gadgets as they explore epic locations across the Northdark Reaches in the Underdark of Faerûn.

Neverwinter is available on PC and is free to play digitally on Xbox One (with Xbox Live Gold) and PS4 (PlayStation Plus not required).
