'Creature Lab' Lets You Become A Mad Scientist, Playtest Begins Next Week - Screens & Trailer

by Rainier on April 13, 2022 @ 1:53 p.m. PDT

Creature Lab is a crazy first-person simulation game that lets you become a mad scientist in search of the ultimate mutagen!

Become a mad scientist!

Conduct crazy experiments, mix mutagens, breed abominable creatures, and attach monstrous body parts to them. Manage your inventory, expand your lab, and make sure your hideout is safe. Send your creations into the city to obtain the necessary salvage and test...

In Creature Lab you are literally mad. As mad as only a mad scientist can be. Years of research, years of publications… all for nothing. Your groundbreaking results did not impress anyone. So, yeah, you ended up as mad scientists usually end up - alone, full of disappointment and anger. Completely ignored by others, you decide to make them listen, to make them pay.

Creature Lab sets you on a difficult path of a genius, yet a bit wicked scientist with a very liberal approach to test subjects and official procedures. Establish your hideout and let the experiments commence! Conduct crazy experiments, mix mutagens, analyze their properties, grow DNA-based body parts, and attach them to your test subjects.

So many possibilities… Prepare your laboratory, obtain basic reagents, and see what happens when you mix them together. Don’t forget to name all your recipes! Apply your mutagens to test subjects and observe how they react. Grow entirely new body parts and attach them to the creatures you just brought to life. Discover nearly limitless interactions between mutagens and body parts as you slowly assemble an army of mutants.

Image Power is happy to announce Creature Lab playtests on Steam.

Starting April 21, for one week, we will let gamers worldwide wander around mad man's laboratory and search for any imperfections.

"The Creature Lab demo performed extremely well during the last Steam Next Fest. The interest in the game increased significantly with the number of followers immediately shooting up, and players praising the demo and its gameplay.” - said Lukasz Mach, CEO at Image Power - “It also turned out that CL is an extremely ‘streamable’ game with many great clips you can now find on YT. We were even surprised how meme-friendly our game is, to be honest.”

The goal of this playtest is to check if our recent post-demo changes to the tutorial are intuitive and if new Quality of Life (QoL) improvements hit home. We also plan to show more new stuff, such as controller support, a new monster, and more!

Creature Lab will be also showcased at PAX East 2022, at the Indie Games Poland booth (#15019). We’re looking forward to showing you a new, amazing demo and meeting the US players! Come and visit us at PAX East, Boston APR 21 – 25!

There's no use hoping for government funds so you'll make do with anything you can find or even steal. Manage your inventory, expand your lab, and make sure your hideout is safe. Don’t let the panic guide you, the more stressed you are, the bigger chance Feds will drop by to say hello and check your spot! Don’t leave any traces, be patient and extremely careful! They will never even know what hit them!

Running low on resources? Need more test subjects? Send your sick creatures into the city! Find whatever resources you need. Spread panic in the city to scare off anyone trying to find your hideout. And if the military starts looking for you, send the strongest of your creatures to teach them a lesson. Let no one stop you in your search for the ultimate mutagen!
