In Tape you play as Iria, a girl who is trying to recover her lost memories to solve the mystery of his dad's disappearance. You got a unique ability at your disposal, though: you can use a Super8 camera to rewind, pause, or fast-forward objects in time, in order to find the information and clues you need toget to find the truth.
Iria will be able to play with time to solve puzzles and try to remember the past events that led to her dad's disappearance, an acclaimed horror movie director. The game will challenge players to use the rewind mechanic to solve puzzles, escape the nightmares that inhabit Iria's memories while exploring an eerie location heavily influenced by her dad's work in the past.
Will she be able to find the truth hidden behind the lens of the camera?
A unique narrative merged with gameplay full of puzzles and enigmas. This is how the developers like to present Tape: Unveil The Memories, a project that is already making a name for itself among the mystery-genre devotees. If you are already liking the narrative, you’ll love the mechanics. To solve the puzzles, you’ll need to search outside the video game, in videos, or on real websites. Without doing this, it’s impossible to beat the game. Furthermore, using the camcorder the player can affect the objects inside the game, flashing them forward or backward, using the time to solve puzzles.
Publisher Meridiem Games announced that Tape: Unveil The Memories will release as a PS5 special boxed Director’s Edition on October 21, 2022, as well as in digital edition for PS5 on the PlayStation Store.
Meridiem Games will be designing, manufacturing, and distributing a special boxed edition of Tape: Unveil The Memories Director’s Edition which will be available in specialist retail outlets across Europe. The Director's Edition will include an exclusively designed sleeve, three art postcards from the director's films, Iria's letter (spoiler alert!), and the unpublished prologue storyboard.
Tape: Unveil The Memories for PS5 will contain improvements such as: haptic vibration, adaptive triggers, Dualsense 3D sound and native 4K resolution.
"It’s full of cinematographic references from classics such as The Shining and Twin Peaks”, said the design team. The story of TAPE represents the society from the 90s in Galicia and honors the classic horror movies that will influence the main character, Iria.
