Planet Earth. 2084. It is time to put your mark on history. In command of the crew of Io-1, players will have to overcome the cold harsh realities of surviving in a hostile environment. Low gravity, volcanos, seismic activity, extreme temperatures and magnetic storms will put constant pressure on your crew and their ability to survive. Carefully monitoring beacons because of sulfur wind will be critical to survival in the toxic atmosphere.

Every playthrough of The Pioneers will contain different crew members selected from a pool of fifteen. Each member of the surviving crew will have different specialties and players will have to adapt to the strengths and weaknesses of each. Exploration will also be a key part of the game, with players able to experience varied biomes in search of resources to stay alive.

The Pioneers: Surviving Desolation will be coming to Steam Early Access on January 20, 2023, and remain so for about 18 months.

“We decided to release this Early Access version of the game because it contains the three main gameplay loops of The Pioneers: Io exploration, station expansion, crew management. They are far from being representative of the final vision, but we find that they work pretty well together and already offer a deep enjoyable gaming experience.”

“In Early Access, we'll be focusing on upgrading the overall player experience. A lot of features and content will be implemented, but we will also work on graphics, optimization, UX, and many other features. We will announce a content roadmap to showcase all the core content additions throughout early access.”

Key Features:

• Explore - Io may be dangerous but it is also home to beautiful, desolate landscapes. Board a rover or a flying drone and venture out to gather precious resources int he various biomes of Io. Explore the land and collect important scientific data to accomplish your mission.
• Build - Your spaceship has wrecked on the surface of Io but you can still use the parts to your advantage. Produce Materials, build modules and engineering systems, craft wearable equipment and make food. Utilize the game’s advanced health system to monitor everyone carefully to keep them alive.
• Survive - Volcanos, seismic activity and magnetic storms will put nearly constant pressure on your crew. Monitor your beacons carefully to avoid dying because of a sulfur wind. Anticipate and adapt. Your life depends on it.
• Manage - Each game of The Pioneers offers players a unique challenge. Start with 3 different characters chosen randomly among a pool of 15. Adapt to their strengths and weaknesses and use everything they have at their disposal to survive.
• Simulate - Multiple winning conditions and endings. Play again and again, take advantage of upgrades, learn the best strategies for survival, and master all of Io’s unforgiving elements. 

The Pioneers: Surviving Desolation is in development for PC (Steam), scheduled for 2024.
