Developer Saigon Dragon Studios launched the Space Tales Kickstarter campaign with the goal of raising $24,000 (roughly £19,633) to help fund the development of the game.

If successfully funded, the studio plans to launch Space Tales with 16 diverse missions and a number of additional side missions. Variety is a core ethos of the studio's efforts, which is why the team is focused on creating a distinct roster of alien encounters. Rather than relying on one strategy to destroy wave after wave of aliens that increase in health, Space Tales will force players to adapt on the fly by introducing aliens with differing battle strategies.

The Kickstarter has a number of tier options including an Early Backer tier which allows a limited number of fans to secure a discounted copy of the game. There are also various goodies and the chance to have a direct impact on the development of the game by helping design an alien unit or by working with the development team to build a planet.
