'World War Z: Aftermath' Valley Of the Zeke DLC Will Add New Map, Playable Survivors In December, Coincides With Free Update - Trailer

by Rainier on Oct. 31, 2023 @ 10:25 a.m. PDT

Inspired by Paramount Pictures' blockbuster film, World War Z is a four-player cooperative featuring massive swarms of zombies who rush their living prey.

From Moscow to Jerusalem to New York, the action-packed co-op campaign of Saber’s World War Z unleashes hundreds of fast-moving, bloodthirsty zombies at a time on players in a nail-biting action experience around the world

Use traps, barriers and the environment strategically to slow your undead enemies down, then unleash a storm of firepower from all directions with a wide range of heavy-hitting weapons and explosives.

You’ll face off against hundreds of different types of zekes on screen at a time, rushing as a pack to overwhelm your defenses. Dynamic swarm simulation, a smart intensity director, diverse zombie mechanics, and an advanced gore system all combine for the ultimate zombie shooter experience.

Outlive the dead through each group of survivors’ unique storylines, as they run from and battle massive hordes of zombies powered by Saber’s advanced Swarm Engine. Survive a series of heart-pounding co-operative campaigns across a series of international locations, including Moscow, Jerusalem and New York. The relentless swarms act as real crowds, as zombies trip over obstacles, squeeze through tight spaces, and climb on top of each other to reach players no matter where they try to hide.

Play with friends or on your own with AI teammates to survive against these relentless swarms of undead.

Saber Interactive revealed the next major content installment for World War Z: Aftermath!.

Arriving on December 5, 2023 at $9.99*, for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, “Valley of the Zeke” will introduce the first new premium campaign episode for Aftermath since it debuted in 2021, set in Arizona and featuring three brand-new maps and four new playable survivors.

There will also be new premium character and weapon skins, as well as a free update for all players featuring new zombie varieties, the new Desert Eagle weapon, and additional surprises for challenge mode.

The “Valley of the Zeke” campaign episode features three new maps that will take players to Arizona with a new story set in the heart of the American Southwest. Play as four new characters and lead a convoy of survivors to salvation through the desert and humanity’s fallen urban strongholds.

New premium character and weapon skin packs are also coming on December 5 just in time for “Valley of the Zeke.” Players will be able to grab the “Pre-Apocalypse Character Skins Pack” and the “Burning Skulls Weapons Skin Pack” for $4.99 each*.

“Valley of the Zeke” will also deliver a free update for all owners of the original World War Z and World War Z: Aftermath on December 5 featuring even more heart-pumping action and gameplay, including:

  • New zombie enemy types that will appear in all episodes, including the Juggernaut, a special zombie unit that can dish out the pain while charging down your line, as well as new military zombies with combat armor for an even greater challenge.
  • The new Desert Eagle secondary weapon, a large-caliber pistol that packs tremendous stopping power when you need it most.
  • A new set of exciting mutators for Challenge Mode and Challenge Horde Mode. Equip all auto-turrets with explosive ammo (but with reduced lifespan), embrace the Wild West theme by forcing everyone to use repeating rifles and revolvers, and more!
  • The addition of the recently released Rome XL map to Challenge Horde Mode (available only for Aftermath on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S).
*Owners of the original World War Z on PlayStation and Xbox will also be able to purchase the “Valley of the Zeke” premium campaign episode DLC, as well as the “Pre-Apocalypse Character Skins Pack” and “Burning Skulls Weapons Skin Pack” DLC.

Each of World War Z’s six playable classes comes loaded with several unique perks, but here’s a taste of what’s in store for the undead hordes when you play:

  • Gunslinger For those who skip the questions and shoot first, the Gunslinger is loaded with an arsenal of weapon damage and ammo-boosting perks to mow down the dead.
  • Hellraiser Enough explosives can solve any problem! Hellraisers come armed with C4 and other tools for effective crowd control.
  • Slasher For warriors with a sense of elegance, the best way to kill is with your trusty blade. Slashers have perks that increase melee damage and effectiveness while their armed tasers deliver electrifying results.
  • Medic Sometimes the best way to fight the undead is keeping your teammates from becoming one of them. Armed with a Stim Pistol, Medics can heal fellow survivors from a distance and help keep the chaos under control.
  • Fixer When versatility in any situation is the highest priority, the Fixer is there for you, starting out with an explosive ammo case and several teammate ammo-restoring perks.
  • Exterminator Fire is the answer! Armed with Molotov cocktails and increased fire damage, the Exterminator just wants to watch the undead burn.

World War Z: Aftermath is available for Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC (Epic Games Store and Steam).
