'Trackmania' Celebrates 20th Anniversary With New Content and Events - Trailer

by Rainier on Nov. 21, 2023 @ 5:56 p.m. PST

The Trackmania Nations Remake combines easy-to-learn, hard-to-master gameplay style with a fresh look and creative direction.

Trackmania is the biggest and most compelling remake of the legendary racing game, TrackMania Nations. Trackmania combines easy-to-learn yet hard-to-master gameplay with a large variety of tracks, regular seasons, live events and customization options.

Royal mode is an exhilarating and fun new 60-player game mode where players can team up with two friends to compete against other teams in a pool of 20 randomized challenging maps including one new map every day. In Royal mode, players must channel their wacky nature to overcome courses filled with animated obstacles and wild water features leading to treacherous twists and turns.

Starting with 20 teams, four teams are eliminated each round until a champion team emerges. Each game will last a maximum of 15 minutes across the five rounds for the best teams.

The Trackmania franchise turns 20 today, and it’s celebrating with new content, events, and more.

On November 21st, 2003, Trackmania made its debut, introducing the gaming world to “fun and addictive” online races, fueled by player-created content and featuring groundbreaking multiplayer technology with a no-collision approach. The first title showcased three iconic environments: Desert, Rally, and Snow, known as the “Trackmania Original environments”.

Fast forward 20 years, 14 installments, and 48 million players, we are delighted to unveil the “Original Trilogy” coming to Trackmania through mini-remakes accessible directly in the game. This is made possible by a new feature allowing the Stadium car to transform into the 3 historic cars.

The festivities kick off today in Trackmania with the first of three episodes that will revisit the “Original Trilogy” from the first game: its Snow, Desert, and Rally environments. The first episode, Snow, is available now – and in addition to a new 15-track campaign, it transforms the Stadium car into the Snow car, which plays like its 2003 counterpart with modern twists. The episode also introduces a new kind of competitive road surface, wood, and adds 100 new 3D blocks and items for track creators.

Accompanying this exciting content drop, we are hosting various live activities with Trackmania goodies prizes:

  • Tonight (and tomorrow), at 7PM CET, a very special Track Of The Day will kick off the celebration with the Cup Of The Day, as well as the Snow Discovery campaign of 15 tracks.
  • A group of 10 streamers, including Bren, Karlberg, Lars, Majijej, SBVille, Spam, TrilluXe, Wingobear, Wirtual, and Yannex, will craft their own track, forming a unique streamers campaign that will be released on December 4th. Until then, check out your favorite streamers’ Twitch channel to follow their mapping, and start playing their track in their in-game clubs!
  • These same tracks will be featured in the Trackmania 20th-anniversary competition on December 18th where you will be able to compete.
  • On November 29, Ubisoft News will livestream the Cup of the Day at 6:30PM CEST/9:30AM PT, joined by Trackmania Producer Augustin De Vita and Content Manager Ayrton Lemaire.

Additionally, the studio held a car-skinning contest in honor of the 20th anniversary, and players can now head over to the in-game Ubisoft Nadeo club to check out the top 10 player-crafted skins, chosen by a jury of community members and Nadeo staff.

Also on the near horizon is the Trackmania World Championship Final Stage, which will feature eight teams of two competitors each, livestreamed from Montpellier, France. The finals begin with two best-of-seven Group Stages with four teams each, which begin on November 24 at 4PM CEST/7AM PT and continue on November 25 at 4PM CEST/7AM PT. The top six teams then move on to the World Championship Playoffs; these begin on November 26 at 2PM CEST/5AM PT with the quarter-finals (featuring the second- and third-place winners of the Group Stages); continue at 5PM CEST/8AM PT with the semi-finals; and conclude with the best-of-nine grand final at 8PM CEST/11AM PT.

The celebration will continue into 2024, as the Rally environment is slated to return on April 1 with the Spring campaign, and Desert will re-emerge starting July 1 as part of the Summer campaign.

The new Royal mode will allow players to engage in a daily competitive feature called Super Royal, where players will have the opportunity to race amongst the best players and become the Super Royal team champion.

Players can also generate their own Royal party code to create a private server, where they can continue the fun with their friends and communities in personalized matches.

This new upgrade also includes new physics and mapping innovations, like water blocks and plastic blocks, as well as animated and dynamic items, giving more opportunities to build and enjoy incredible tracks.

Also featured is an all-new Ranked Matchmaking mode, where players can link up in teams of three and take on a field of competitors to climb the in-game ranking divisions.

Trackmania is available on PC (Epic Games Store/Ubisoft Store), Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5 and Amazon Luna.
