The universe of New Cycle is set in a post-apocalyptic world, where human beings are not only survivors but also a species capable of reshaping its current conditions and pushing its capabilities against all odds. The philosophy underlying the game world argues that mere survival cannot be the goal and that our species cannot simply accept it as the purpose of a stagnant life. Just like their ancient ancestors, whose development and progress cannot be stopped as long as they breathe, our species will continue to struggle even in a world that is about to collapse. And the game aims to make us experience how and in what ways this struggle will take place with its unique fiction.
New Cycle, which starts its journey with the early goal of feeding its population and establishing a settlement with makeshift structures, focuses on the process of transforming into a complex industrial metropolis where tons of components of different varieties are processed and which is capable of developing and implementing massive projects. Using a slew of mechanics to organize and manage the entire settlement with its production trees, society, class structure, city life, and interactions with the outside world, the game tries to create a successful hybrid of different mechanics while staying true to the classic city-builder approach.
A feature of New Cycle that sets itself from other base builders in this genre, is the extremely volatile seasonal cycle. The solar flare has devastated the world resulting in unpredictable weather conditions throughout the year. As Chief, players must learn how to anticipate and quickly adapt to these changes to ensure survival of their society.
Core Engage and Daedalic Entertainment are proud to announce that New Cycle will launch into Steam Early Access on January 18, 2024.
Looking into the bright dawn of Early Access in January, Turkish developers Core Engage are excited to inject fresh energy into the survival city-building genre by elevating tried and true hallmarks both narratively and mechanically.
With the unique crisis component around the sun and climate changes reminiscent of today’s ecological concerns, New Cycle honors the existing elements while entertaining innovation in light of the new world and circumstances. Early Access will feature two different gameplay modes (campaign and sandbox), three different biomes, 54 buildings, 47 producible resources, three classes of society, eight different stages of development, and an inventory of 3D assets divided into three main eras and art style approaches.
Core Engage will continue to keep community feedback in mind through the Early Access period in the overall development progress.
