Bloober Team Developing New Game Based On Skybound Entertainment IP

by Rainier on Dec. 20, 2023 @ 9:24 a.m. PST

Bloober Team signed a licensing and publishing agreement with Skybound (The Walking Dead and Invincible) to develop a game code named R, based on the IP owned by Skybound.

Skybound Entertainment is an American multi-platform entertainment company founded by Robert Kirkman and David Alpert. Their most recognizable brand is the long-running comic book series The Walking Dead. In April 2018, they established Skybound Games Studios, a company dedicated to publishing independent games and licensing video games based on their intellectual property. In September 2018, they founded Skybound Stories, a joint venture within Sky Group creating narrative games for mobile devices. In 2021, Skybound became the largest shareholder of the listed game producer 5th Planet Games, and in 2023 the majority shareholder.

"This project is the next step in the 2nd party strategy, under which we cooperate with external partners providing our horror know-how. These are not titles that are intended to give us only financial profit, but are further steps in achieving our strategy by the end of 2027," comments Piotr Babieno, president of Bloober Team. "We have known each other with our friends from Skybound for a long time and I am sure that it will be a successful cooperation."

Additionally, Bloober Team is in the process of technically moving to the main floor of the WSE.

"The end of the year is extremely busy for us. But it is also a jubilee year, the celebration of which we have recently started and we want to celebrate it at an appropriate pace. I think we will surprise a lot," comments Piotr Babieno.

The premiere of the project is planned for 2025.
