Congratulations, you’ve been appointed team captain of a mediocre hockey team! It is your duty as captain to carry a group of chumps to superstar status. Whether on the ice during critical moments of a game or crafting strategies during the off-season, every choice matters on the path to triumph. Hire future superstars throughout each playthrough, discover and utilize the synergy between players, and harness ferocious superstar abilities to form an unbeatable squad.

Losses are inevitable, as the dream team isn’t built with the drop of a single puck. Take every loss as an opportunity to strengthen the team. Visit the mighty Blademaster between playthroughs and permanently upgrade equipment for the battles ahead. You may even find a familiar face from an opposing team looking for a new captain. When push comes to shove, there’s always the option to lace the refs’ pockets with some sweet maple syrup.

Tape to Tape redefines the modern hockey gaming experience. Joining classic 90s-style gameplay with contemporary, innovative mechanics in an invigorating and goofy roguelite adventure. Hockey players and goalies react to all actions on the ice creating organic and immersive battles. Bone-crushing body checks, stellar saves, and a thrown stick to the face will keep the opposition shaking in their skates, while mastering the dynamic puck physics system will secure the win. 

Publisher Null Games and developer Excellent Rectangle announced that Tape to Tape is now available through Steam Early Access.

“The core systems and features are all currently working and offer a deep and unique hockey roguelite experience. The roguelite campaign features 3 complete Acts with 12 teams and dozens of unlockable players and skills. Tape to Tape is essentially complete and can be played from start to finish. Each playthrough already lets you build completely different teams and experience the game differently. The campaign can be played solo or cooperatively, either using Steam remote access or local play and competitively through our Play Now mode.”

“Throughout EA, we plan to enhance the gameplay by introducing manual goaltenders, a fighting mode, and a range of quality-of-life improvements. Additionally, we are thrilled to work on some highly requested customization options. For the Roguelite campaign, we are planning on additional powerups and modifications for goaltenders, including more relics, powerups and teams for even more variance and replayability. We plan on adding more variety to the Challenge nodes against the Spartans and want to provide more Angus variations during Events. We’re also planning on adding more dialogues and an actual opening to the campaign.”

Bone-crushing body checks and stellar saves will keep players shaking in their skates, but mastering the dynamic puck physics system will secure the victory. Players and goalies will react to the puck bouncing off sticks and ricocheting off faces creating organic and emergent battles on the ice. Thankfully, there is no penalty when a tooth is lost.
• 4-PLAYER MULTIPLAYER!: The Tape to Tape can be played online with a total of up to 4 players using Steam remote play or locally. The fast-paced gameplay and tight controls makes for memorable matchups. We also invite you to join our Discord server to play with the dev team or to find other player amongst our wonderful community. The Roguelite campaign is also playable cooperatively with some friends for a truly unique experience.
