Summer Games Done Quick 2023 Raises More Than $2.2 Million for Doctors Without Borders

Summer Games Done Quick (SGDQ) 2023 has ended its week-long 24-hour speedrunning marathon, raising a total of $2.2 million for Doctors Without Borders / Médecins Sans Frontières.

The in-person event was held May 28-June 4 at the Hilton Minneapolis and was also broadcast on Games Done Quick’s Twitch channel.

In case you missed it, every run from SGDQ 2023 is archived on the official Games Done Quick YouTube channel. 

Highlights included a blindfolded run of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, a launch day tournament for Street Fighter 6, and a tutorial run of how to speedrun Bastion.

Games Done Quick has now raised more than $46.2 million for charities worldwide since its first event in 2010, including Doctors Without Borders, Prevent Cancer Foundation, Malala Fund, Organization for Autism Research, and CARE. 

The all-women speedrunning showcase Flame Fatales is Games Done Quick's next event, which is being held online from August 13-20, 2023.

Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders (MSF) is a private international association founded in 1971. The association is made up mainly of doctors and health sector workers and is also open to other professions which might help in achieving its aims. Their mission is to provide lifesaving medical care to those most in need.

MSF provides assistance to populations in distress, to victims of natural or man-made disasters, and to victims of armed conflict. They do so irrespective of race, religion, creed, or political convictions.
