'Warframe' Reveals Abyss of Dagath Content Update, New Warframe, Community Events And More - Trailer

by Rainier on Sept. 28, 2023 @ 2:40 p.m. PDT

WarFrame is a free-to-play fast-action co-op focused shooter set in an evolving sci-fi world.

Set in the far reaches of outer space during a new Dark Age, WarFrame introduces the Tenno, a race on the brink of extinction after being enslaved by the Grineer for centuries. Players enter WarFrame on the cusp of the Grineer's victory over the Tenno until they begin to arm themselves with WarFrames - an ancient exo-skeletal technology only they can operate. Hidden within the Orokin Derelicts of a lost civilization, new WarFrames lie dormant and undiscovered. These artifacts are the Tenno's only hope for survival.

WarFrame is a free-to-play fast-action PvE shooter set in an evolving sci-fi world. Some would call it MMO-Lite as squads of four players band together to advance their characters and battle the oppression of the genocidal Grineer. Throughout their combat missions, players will continually increase the power and abilities of their WarFrame and weapons. Players will raid new areas of space searching for exotic and powerful weapons and WarFrame augmentations to customize their arsenal. With WarFrame's Automatic Mission Generator, the game will offer endless replay as levels are procedurally configured for a unique raid -- every time.

Digital Extremes shared new details from Warframes upcoming Abyss of Dagath update as part of the team’s Devstream today.

Leads from the Warframe team discussed a suite of upcoming content and quality-of-life improvements to the game. They were joined by members of the Soulframe team, bearing a gesture of appreciation for the reception the game received during last month’s annual TennoCon celebration.

As an act of appreciation of the Soulframe community’s kind words, fan art, and overall engagement, the full “Rivers Of Dendria” music track that plays during the Torment Stag boss fight has been made available in full on the official Soulframe Youtube channel as well as the launch of the official Discord server.

The team revealed more details on the legendary headless horsewoman, Dagath.

The 54th Warframe rides into the fray wielding Dorrclave, a deadly sword/whip. Dagath can conjure rotating spectral sickles, shoot forth cursed energy from her faceless head, guard against spectral realm-based damage, and summon the Rakhali’s Cavalry to bring forth five phantasmal steeds that slam into enemies for massive damage.

The Warframe team also outlined the Prime form of the ever-hungry Grendel Warframe in this update. Grendel Prime represents the height of technology from a bygone era, and he has worked up one hell of an appetite since then. Equipped with additional equipment slots and a rare Prime tech weapon, enemies will run in fear of every stomach growl.

Alongside the Abyss of Dagath Update, a highly-requested rework means your companion never dies, merely gets knocked out when health reaches zero. This quality of life change is paired with a bundle of new mods and a revamped healing system: companion’s survivability has increased overall by approximately 50%.

As promised at TennoCon 2023, the Hydroid Warframe’s rework will also arrive in this update: new passive, status effect triggers, removal of non-synergistic gameplay tuning, and overall changes to his base kit. The biggest adjustment sees the Undertow ability with a fresh one, Plunder, stealing all enemies’ armor in view and converting it into corrosive damage for Hydroid’s weapon.

Two community events have already begun this month, both Quest to Conquer Cancer and the Nights of Naberus Halloween celebration.

Warframe is teaming up with The Princess Margaret Foundation once again to support their Quest to Conquer Cancer campaign! Officially kicking off on October 2, Tenno will have two primary options to help support the campaign and raise funds for cancer research. Donate directly via the official Warframe Team Donor Drive page and/or purchase exclusive Warframe charity merchandise. (Net proceeds to be donated once the campaign concludes.)

“The Warframe community is so supportive of the causes we work with and the foundation has been no exception,” said Rebecca Ford, Creative Director. “As a creative team, we like finding ways to make a difference in the real world through what we do in-game.”

Meanwhile, Nights of Naberus brings back the spooky season with dozens of thematic Bat cosmetics, masks, armors, skins, a new Naberus Lotus skin, and more.

“Naberus is always a great time of year for Warframe,” said Ford. “We have our holiday-themed 54th Warframe, more lore, tons of activities, and quality of life improvements - not to mention the launch of Grendel’s Prime - no tricks, only treats!”
