by Rainier on Sept. 29, 2023 @ 9:07 a.m. PDT

Set in an urban concrete jungle, Side Bullet is a free-to-play side-scrolling take on the Battle Royale shooter where players will be pitted against both each other and strange monsters.

Choose a fighter from one of eight cartels including Psychos, Special Agents, and Prisoners. Each cartel offers its own passive skill known as a Unique Perk, also  special weapons can be used together with active skills known as Perks.

Use your guns in conjunction with your grappling hook for smooth, agile precision platforming. Defeat strange monsters to acquire more powerful weapons and supplies. Unlock perks as you play and customize your battle experience. Infinite possibilities await!

As a free-to-play game, Side Bullet offers microtransactions, but these aren’t pay-to-win bonuses. Instead, there are Item Bundles, which include customizable cosmetic items, such as costumes, furniture, emotes, and more bundled together at a low price, as well as the Premium Battle Pass that allows players to earn various additional rewards on top of their existing Free Battle Pass rewards.

Get ready to experience a Battle Royale like none other, merging tactical depth with 2D arcade action!

South Korean studio PressA revealed that Side Bullet is coming to PlayStation 5 on October 4, 2023.

“We’re very excited for PlayStation 5 players to finally get their hands on SIDE BULLET on October 4th,” said Seong-Uk Kim, director of SIDE BULLET at PressA. “We think it’s a highly original mix of classic 2D side-scrolling action with contemporary Battle Royale sensibilities that feels unlike anything else out there. We can’t wait to hear what players think of it!.”

Side Bullet is split between two primary game modes: Battle Royale Solo and Battle Royale Trio. Both place you in a randomly-generated battleground called BELOBOG that gets increasingly smaller as time passes due to a toxic gas leak. The longer you're exposed to the gas, the more your HP gauge will shrink, so it's important to find a safe place quickly!

In Battle Royale Solo it’s up to you to use the map strategically; find cover to crouch behind, shoot out lights to stay hidden in the shadows, and infiltrate from above by breaking glass floors. Come up with your own strategy to be the last one standing! While your biggest threat will be other players, there are other monsters to contend with in Battle Royale Solo, such as the self-destructing Bomber, the invisible Stalker, and the toxic Poisoner. Defeat boss monsters that spawn in the center of the map at certain times to attain special weapons like flamethrowers and railguns!

In Battle Royale Trio you'll be teamed up with three other players, so you'll have to share roles - such as tank, dealer, and healer - if you’re to become victorious. One benefit of playing as a team rather than a loner is that your teammates can heal you if you’re incapacitated by an enemy's attack. So long as one of you is alive, the game ain’t over! Be careful though, because in Battle Royale Trio there's a special takedown that can finish off a downed fighter once and for all, so you’ll have to balance playing aggressively vs strategically. Playing in a team radically alters the dynamic, creating a completely different experience than playing solo!

Both modes will require you to use your guns in conjunction with your grappling hook for smooth, agile precision platforming. Defeat strange monsters to acquire more powerful weapons and supplies. Unlock perks as you play and customize your battle experience. Infinite possibilities await!

Side Bullet will be coming to PS5 on October 4, 2023 as a free-to-play title.
