'Darkest Dungeon II' Inhuman Bondage DLC Will Add New Playable Hero And Mini-region Later This Year, Coincides With Free Update - Trailer

Darkest Dungeon II is a challenging gothic roguelike RPG that will test your mettle and drive you to the brink of madness.

Darkest Dungeon II will test your mettle and drive you to the brink of madness.

Armor yourself with purpose and provision your party for the journey ahead. It will be arduous.

Darkest Dungeon II is a loving interpretation of the game’s signature style in 3D, with hand-drawn textures, bringing more life to the characters and amp up the fx, while preserving the classic DD combat presentation.

The basic configuration of 4 heroes/4 monsters and two trinkets per hero is still true, but there have been significant changes to the base mechanics, stats, and so on.

Red Hook Studios announced that Darkest Dungeon II will receive its second DLC Inhuman Bondage (Steam / Epic Games Store) later this year.

A new playable hero, The Abomination, and a mini-region, The Catacombs, will be included in this new piece of content.

Unleash the beast within! The Abomination makes his return to the Darkest Dungeon series. This reclusive alchemist comes with a unique battle mechanic, allowing him to transform into a fearsome monstrosity - at the risk of spiraling stress!  This new hero will come complete with unique trinkets, signature items, palettes, weapon kits and a fully voiced origin story including playable flashback encounters.

The Catacombs invite players to plunge their stagecoach into a long forgotten subterranean mini-region to face a corrosive, oozing threat. This is a high risk, high reward region featuring a faction of new slime sodden enemies and new items, that will bring variety and challenge to both the original Confessions mode and Kingdoms, an upcoming new game mode arriving later this year.

The paid DLC Inhuman Bondage will launch alongside The Hunger of the Beast Clan, the first of three thematic modules of the brand new game mode Kingdoms, coming to Darkest Dungeon II later in 2024 as a free update. Featuring a completely reimagined game structure, Kingdoms is a parallel game experience to the Confessions game mode. Players will be tasked with defending the realm from incursions by all-new enemy-factions. Up first they will be tasked with fending off the pitiless onslaught of the rotting and ravenous beastmen!

Darkest Dungeon II is once again be narrated by Wayne June, while music is being composed by Darkest Dungeon 1's Stuart Chatwood.

Key Features:

  • Roguelike Runs, Each With Its Own Emerging Story: Each expedition lasts from 30 minutes to several hours. Even an untimely end will arm you with resources that can be spent to improve your next journey.
  • Unforgettable Heroes: Uncover and experience the tragic origin stories of each hero. Unlock their full potential via new skills, paths, items, and more.
  • The Altar of Hope: Engage with a massive system of upgrades and boons that opens up new strategies for each expedition. Choose what’s important to you as you formulate your assaults on the Mountain.
  • The Affinity System: As travels progress, heroes bond with each other or develop animosity, leading to desperately needed combat synergies or journey-ending dysfunction. Manage their stress and interaction to keep the team together until the bitter end.
  • Nightmarish Environs: From the burning Sprawl to the diseased Foetor, the long road to the Mountain will challenge your strategies and your endurance. Explore five distinct regions, each with their own unique creatures and challenges.

Darkest Dungeon II is available for PC (Steam / Epic Games Store), Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
