'Alien: Isolation' Celebrates 10th Anniversary With Soundtrack on Vinyl/Cassette, Confirms Sequel In Development

by Rainier on Oct. 7, 2024 @ 10:07 a.m. PDT

Alien: Isolation is a first-person survival horror experience that will focus on capturing the horror and tension evoked by Ridley Scott’s 1979 classic film.

When she left Earth, Ellen Ripley promised her daughter Amanda she would return home for her 11th birthday. Amanda never saw her again.

Fifteen years later, Amanda, now a Weyland-Yutani employee, hears that the flight recorder of her mother’s ship, the Nostromo, has been recovered at the remote trading station Sevastopol. The temptation for her to finally understand what happened is too much to resist.  When the crew arrive at Sevastopol, they find something is desperately wrong. It all seems to be connected to an unknown menace, stalking and killing deep in the shadows.

In order to uncover the truth about her mother, Amanda is forced to confront the same terrifying thing that separated them.

On a decommissioned trading station in the fringes of space, fear and panic have gripped the inhabitants. Players find themselves in an atmosphere of constant dread and mortal danger as an unpredictable, ruthless Xenomorph is stalking and killing deep in the shadows.

Creative Assembly confirmed an Alien: Isolation sequel is in development.

It's hard to believe that it has been 10 years since we embarked on our journey with the release of Alien: Isolation'.

When we started developing Alien: Isolation, we had one guiding principle: to create a truly authentic experience that went back to the roots of the Alien franchise - a new story capturing the atmosphere and terror of the original 1979 movie masterpiece.

It's been nothing short of incredible to witness your passion for the game over the years and see it reach so many players around the world. Your boundless enthusiasm, excitement, screams (!) and steely courage in the face of cinema's greatest killer, have been profoundly rewarding.

Whether you're a nightmare mode veteran or stepping into Amanda Ripley's shoes for that thrilling first attempt (good luck!), we wanted to express our deep gratitude. It was a dream project brought to life by a brilliant team, and the reception you have given it over the years is extraordinary.

On the 10th anniversary, it seems only fitting to let you know that we have heard your distress calls loud and clear.

Today, I'm delighted to confirm, on behalf of the team, that a sequel to Alien: Isolation is in early development. We look forward to sharing more details with you when we're ready.

Once again, thank you.
Until next time,
Al Hope, Creative Director - Alien: Isolation

iam8bit Unleashing Alien: Isolation's Blood-Curdling Soundtrack on Vinyl, Cassette

Hollywood Records releases Alien: Isolation (Original Video Game Soundtrack) with music from composing duo Joe Henson and Alexis Smith, better known as The Flight and Christian Henson with themes by Jerry Goldsmith. The 20-track album releases in celebration of the game’s 10-year anniversary both digitally and on blood green vinyl and motion-tracker green cassette, featuring original packaging art by Nimit Malavia, courtesy of iam8bit.

The Flight reflect on the release, “It’s not often that people are still talking about a ten-year-old video game, but interest in Alien: Isolation, rather like the Xenomorph itself, never quite seems to go away. We constantly get asked about making the soundtrack to this iconic title, and we’re excited that it is finally getting a proper release, so that the fans can at last listen and stream the tracks all these years later.”

Christian Henson adds, “I’m so thankful to have been involved in this project, so it is with deep pride to hear that the OST is being released and we can share the joy we had in making this score.”
