The Mystery Dungeon offers endless gameplay with procedurally generated dungeon maps, enemies, and loot to ensure that every game will be a new challenge for even the most seasoned adventurers.

Shiren starts at level one each time he enters a dungeon, so he needs to grow by defeating enemies, gathering loot, and building strength. All the gear and levels Shiren accumulates will be lost if he collapses during exploration and must restart from scratch. The action progresses on a turn-based system, which allows players to plan carefully and thoughtfully. Players must use their accumulated knowledge, experience, and imagination to succeed.

This title brings new elements to the Mystery Dungeon, such as Shiren taking on new powerful transformations and giant Behemoth monsters that hunt him through the dungeon.

After receiving a vision of a mysterious girl held captive by a terrible monster, Shiren and Koppa make their way to Serpentcoil Island—a distant isle rumored to be the lost stronghold of treasure-hoarding pirates.

To brave the many dangers that await them, Shiren and Koppa must traverse complex dungeons filled with hostile monsters, hidden traps, and useful items. All the gear and experience Shiren accumulates will be lost if he collapses during exploration, so beware of rushing in unprepared! Rescue the mysterious girl and uncover the mystery that clouds Serpentcoil Island.

Spike Chunsoft announced that Shiren the Wanderer: The Mystery Dungeon of Serpentcoil Island will be released on Steam this Winter.

Since its release, the game has received multiple free feature updates as well as the Plus Pack paid DLC. Shiren the Wanderer: The Mystery Dungeon of Serpentcoil Island for Steam includes all of the free feature updates. The Plus Pack will also be released on Steam as paid DLC.

Featuring 109 tracks and totaling over 330 minutes, the digital soundtrack on Steam invites listeners to fully immerse themselves in the world of Shiren the Wanderer: The Mystery Dungeon of Serpentcoil Island. The soundtrack will also be available from noisycroak Records on iTunes, YouTube Music, and other music distribution platforms.

Shiren the Wanderer: The Mystery Dungeon of Serpentcoil Island for Steam includes the same free feature updates released for Nintendo Switch. You can use the new playable characters Kokatsu Shiren and Tatsumi Shiren, as well as 6 new dungeons from the beginning. The paid DLC, Plus Pack, lets you play as the characters Koppa and Asuka and adds 10 new dungeons for an even deeper dungeon-crawling experience.

About Plus Pack

Part 1 adds Koppa as a playable character, and Part 2 adds Asuka.

In the Sacred Tree mode, you’ll be able to select a total of two new playable characters. Part 1 features Koppa the Talking Ferret. Although Koppa cannot inflict damage with attacks, he moves at double speed. Since Koppa cannot equip any gear, you'll advance through the dungeon using special abilities like Burrow and Frantic Fart, which consume Fullness. In Part 2, you’ll get Asuka.

Koppa

A ferret who travels together with Shiren. He is a "talking ferret" that understands human language. *Koppa can be used in the Sacred Tree trials after unlocking Tatsumi Shiren and progressing through the story.

Asuka

She is a wandering swordswoman who is old friends with Shiren and Koppa. She has come to Serpentcoil Island for a specific reason and is reunited with them.

10 New Dungeons

There will be a total of 10 new dungeons: five in Part 1 and five in Part 2. In Part 1 of the Plus Pack, you’ll find dungeons such as Forest of Frugality, where your items are swapped with each floor you move to, and Peachy Trap Domain, where utilizing traps and transforming into monsters is essential. In Part 2 of the Plus Pack, we’ll introduce a high-difficulty dungeon called Soul of Serpentcoil Island, which surpasses the game's most difficult dungeon, Heart of Serpentcoil Island.

Third Free Content Update Introduces New Features

These free dungeons can be played after clearing Serpentcoil Island and progressing through the story.

Go Go Dungeon

A short dungeon with 5 floors. Monsters get suddenly stronger with each floor. If you clear them consecutively, it will be recorded in the dungeon description.

Wanderers’ Highway

A dungeon featuring Companions and Roamers, easily identifiable items, and narrow floors with good visibility.

Quietude of Serpentcoil Island

A more difficult dungeon based on Heart of Serpentcoil Island.

Gear Rack

Display weapons and shields you have acquired in the newly added Gear Rack, available at the Item Holder in Shukuba Beach. You can take gear from the rack any time.

Additional adjustments and improvements have also been made.

The forthcoming release for Nintendo Switch marks the series' latest mainline entry to come to the West since Shiren the Wanderer: The Tower of Fortune and the Dice of Fate was released on PlayStation Vita in 2016 and then on Nintendo Switch in 2020. While preserving the traditional gameplay, this installment introduces new elements and 3D graphics to create a fresh and exciting adventure.

Characters

• Shiren: A heroic wanderer who travels the land in search of adventure with nothing but his partner Koppa, his wits, and his iconic hat and cape.
• Koppa: Shiren's loyal companion. Koppa is one of the last talking ferrets, able to speak with both humans and animals fluently.
• Asuka: A wandering swordswoman who is old friends with Shiren and Koppa. She's come to Serpentcoil Island for her own reasons and is reunited with her allies.
• Suzuna: The cheerful innkeeper at Uzumaki-Ya, ready to support Shiren and Koppa while they plan their adventures on Serpentcoil Island.

Currently available for Nintendo Switch, Shiren the Wanderer: The Mystery Dungeon of Serpentcoil Island is coming to PC (Steam) later this Winter.
