Set in a lush world dominated by mechanical beasts, Light Of Motiram marries key aspects of the survival genre with a dynamic, impactful combat system and saga-worthy boss fights. Rebuild a new civilization and battle, befriend and raise various mechanimals alone or with friends in a sprawling hostile world.
The world of Motiram is a beautiful but hostile place in which players will have to fight tooth and nail to survive. From plains teeming with life, to deserts that stretch out towards the snowy mountains, the game will feature multiple expansive biomes, each with its own resources to gather and enemies to defeat. Moreover, the landscape is almost always dominated by the enigmatic Eye of Motiram, a structure of unknown origin and purpose.
Setting up a basecamp won’t be enough in this savage land either, as enemies will push into players’ territory and threaten to destroy their settlement before it has a chance to thrive. Players looking to outlast their opponents will have to befriend mechanimals, allowing them to acquire new mounts or seek the mechanimals’ help with things such as logging, farming and crafting.
There are dozens of unique mechanimals that will be available for players to bond with in Light Of Motiram that can be levelled up and customised. Mechanimals are a major part of combat and exploration too, as they can serve as ground, air and water mounts, aid in battle or assist with crafting and resource gathering - no matter what goal the player sets, there’s always a mechanimal that can assist them on their journey.
One of the key features of Light Of Motiram is its freeform building system that builds on the many predecessors in the survival genre. The system features realistic physics simulation where every beam or brick is subject to physics and the forces of nature. Whether it’s a fortified stronghold or a cleverly designed hidden shelter that players are aiming for, the game’s tools offer a wide array of options and possibilities.
Moreover, Light Of Motiram is adorned with hundreds of realistic survival gameplay details that make for a complex survival experience to fully draw players in. Trees need to be carefully cut down else they deliver a swift death, a shelter has to be ventilated before lighting a fire so as not to choke, and lightning may strike (more than a few times) if you’re caught wearing metal in a storm. These realistic details can be used to players’ advantage, as for example lightning damage can electrocute fish and make the process of fishing much easier and faster.
Monstrous bosses will serve as milestones for player progression. Each encounter will require careful planning and mastering the art of dodging, blocking and counter attacking to bring them down. Players’ mechanimal companions come into play here, too, as each boss has an elemental weakness that can be exploited.
These boss encounters will unlock new recipes and materials required for players to progress and craft new tools and weapons, but also uncover the story of how the world of Motiram came to be. It’s true what they say — the bigger they are, the more loot they drop.
Light Of Motiram will be free-to-play and available for players to tackle solo or team up with friends on their server, and it will feature full cross-play and post-launch updates.
Light Of Motiram is coming to consoles and PC (Steam) in 2025.
