'Slave Zero X' Gets Nintendo Switch Release In April, Coincides With SovKhan 300 DLC Across All Platforms - Trailer

by Rainier on March 28, 2024 @ 9:38 a.m. PDT

Slave Zero X is a stylish 2.5D character action game set in the biopunk world of 1999's Slave Zero.

Run & Slash your way through a dystopian future in this character action game which will resonate with fans of Devil May Cry, Strider, and Guilty Gear. Slave Zero X features 2D side-scrolling action where players string together brutal combos while traversing a dangerous 2.5D world.

From the top of Megacity S1-9, the Sovereign Khan rules with fists of iron and flesh. Beneath the city’s rotting foundations, a vengeful warrior embarks on a journey to murder him. 4 years prior to the events of Slave Zero, Slave Zero X brings new life to a world where horrific, living machines known as Slaves are primed to become the latest tools of war in humanity’s long and bloody history. A secret band of warriors known as The Guardians hope to stop these biomecha from being unleashed upon the world, but one swordsman among their ranks has a different idea: use the enemy’s own weapon against them. By merging with a stolen Slave Unit Prototype, Shou will become a furious Devil in pursuit of killing a false God.

In development by Poppy Works and Ziggurat Interactive, Slave Zero X will bring a whole new experience to fans of the original game. In Slave Zero X, players will don a death-dealing biosuit and do battle against the forces of the evil SovKhan. The game will feature multiple gameplay modes, and a variety of futuristic dystopian urban levels to battle through.

This new entry in the franchise is based on the concept drawings for the 1999 Dreamcast and PC game. With a biopunk flare and H.R Giger influence, the original vision for Slave Zero couldn’t come to fruition due to budget and development time. Now, Poppyworks with Ziggurat Interactive, bring that original vision to life in this fast-paced, hard-hitting, character action game in the unforgettable dystopian world of Slave Zero X.

Ziggurat Interactive is thrilled to reveal the April 11 Nintendo Switch release date for Slave Zero X following a launch last month on PC, PlayStation 4|5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.

Soon, Switch players will be able to join the fray and take up bloody arms to carve through foes with relentless precision.

The Slave Zero X Switch release will be available in Standard and Deluxe editions digitally worldwide from April 11 and physically from April 11 (Asia and Japan) and May 17 (United States and Europe). Deluxe content includes a custom Nintendo Switch skin, soundtracks, and three comic books created by Marvel and DC Comics veterans Ant Williams and Andy Lanning (Ideas and Inks) that dive deep into the gnarly Slave Zero universe.

Ziggurat also announced that players on all platforms will be able to take on one last obstacle: SovKhan 300. After beating the Crimson Citadel game mode, players can face SovKhan in his true ultimate form, as originally intended by the game’s designers.

SovKhan 300 will be added as free post-game content on April 11 on PC and consoles.

Expanded language support is coming to Slave Zero X, too! Coinciding with the multi-platform console release in Asia and Japan on April 11, a new language patch adding Japanese, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Korean, and Thai will become available on all platforms.
