This four-volume saga, creatively blending science fiction with dark fantasy elements, is considered the author's pinnacle achievement alongside novels such as "Ash and Dust" or "The Book of Autumn Demons." Recognized by both readers and critics, the series has won many awards, such as the Zajdel, Nautilus, and Sphinx, and has permanently etched itself in the hearts of fantasy fans.
Vuko, the protagonist of the books as well as the game, is part of a space expedition with the mission to uncover the fate of previous explorers sent to the planet of Midgaard. At the time of his mission, the alien civilization's technological level can be compared to the early Middle Ages on Earth.
The protagonist has to give up all modern inventions and try to blend in with the inhabitants, without interfering with their rate of development. His only help is a fungi-based biochip, which gives him some superhuman abilities. Upon arrival, Vuko realizes that Midgaard is ravaged by unexplained, almost magical anomalies, which might be linked to the disappearance of the previous expedition.
The storyline combines science fiction with traditional fantasy. The gameplay will feature a compelling protagonist, an engaging story, a dynamic and innovative combat system, and a vivid, extraordinary world shaped by mysterious forces.
The production is developed in consultation with Jarosław Grzędowicz himself and under the auspices of the publishing house Fabryka Słów, with the creators pledging to make every effort to ensure that the gameplay fully captures the spirit and atmosphere of the novels. The team bases its productions on the Unreal Engine 5 with proprietary extensions and utilizes cutting-edge technologies such as photogrammetry and AI.
The Night Wanderer is coming to PS5, Xbox Series, and PC.
