'Manor Lords' Sales Exceeds One Million Early Access Copies In Its First 24 Hours

by Rainier on April 30, 2024 @ 12:00 a.m. PDT

Manor Lords is a medieval strategy game that combines deep, organic and realistic city building with large scale, tactical battles.

Manor Lords aims to provide a gridless, organic city-building experience with full freedom of placement and rotation, but utilizing snapping tools to make the planning more comfortable.

The building mechanic is motivated by the growth of real medieval towns and villages, where major trade routes and landscape often influenced how the settlement shaped and developed.

While not set in an exact place and time to allow for a sandbox experience, the game is heavily influenced by the style and architecture of late XIV century Franconia. Common medieval tropes are avoided in favor of historical accuracy, in order to make the world feel authentic, colorful, and believable.

Fields must be plowed by a team of oxen, iron bloomed in a bloomery, the sheep herded on the open pastures governed by the Lord of the Manor…

This combined with an attention to detail is the key to immersing yourself fully in the medieval fiefdom you rule.

Hooded Horse is proud to share that Slavic Magic’s medieval city-building game Manor Lords sold well over a million copies in its opening weekend, hitting this major sales milestone after 30 hours on sale (Steam / GOG / Epic Games Store / PC Game Preview).

Manor Lords’ concurrent player count on Steam also rose to over 170,000 concurrent users, representing the highest player peak ever reached by any city-building game on Steam, as well as several other adjacent genres, including all grand strategy games, colony sims, 4X games, and turn-based tactical games. That's not counting all the players enjoying Manor Lords on other platforms like PC Game Pass, EGS, and GOG.

Main points for the planned next patch:
  • Fix all the weird homeless bugs
  • Tune the archer damage
  • Tune the trade oversupply mechanics (it's too harsh and punishes regional specialization)
  • Slow down the rate of the AI claiming territories
  • Improve the sawpit efficiency / storage.

Old/current saves should work fine for this one.

The seasons pass, the weather changes, towns can rise and fall to war, disease or famine.

Manor Lords aims to portray battles that feel real, with large-scale unit formations, morale, flanking, fatigue, weather conditions, and equipment all coming into play. Position your troops wisely. A smaller force can defeat a larger enemy, if commanded well.

Key Features

Manor Lords is in development for PC (Steam / GOG), with console editions planned at a later time.
