by Rainier on May 2, 2024 @ 6:00 a.m. PDT

The Tribe Must Survive is a strategy tribe-builder game with survival and roguelike features.

Set in a dark Lovecraftian Stone Age, The Tribe Must Survive is a strategy survival game about growing and protecting your Tribe from lurking dangers. By day, Tribe members work to sustain their community. At night, the faint glow of the campfire is your Tribe's sole defense. Make sure there is enough Wood, Food and other resources to keep the fire burning.

Recurring cosmic disasters will test your Tribe's preparations. As your Tribe survives and grows, internal disagreements will arise, challenging its sense of unity.

Fortunately you can influence them with rituals, buildings, upgrades and other difficult decisions to get things done!

What kind of leadership will help the Tribe survive? Whatever it takes... The Tribe Must Survive!

Developer Walking Tree Games and publisher Starbreeze Entertainment announced the launch of the 1.0 full release of The Tribe Must Survive on May 23rd, 2024.

After an engaging  Steam Early Access phase, the development team has focused on enhancing the game’s challenging mechanics and balance as well as incorporating player feedback.

The 1.0 release will bring major new features to this unique base-builder such as improved meta-progression, gameplay depth, new content and improving the first-time player experience which will significantly enhance replayability. The full release will also include fixes, balancing and UI improvements reflecting community feedback.

“Having Early Access for “The Tribe Must Survive” turned out to be a great decision. The generous player feedback has allowed us to improve lots of things about the game, from squashing bugs and UX changes all the way to new gameplay mechanics and entirely new features. It’s been an exciting journey and we’re super grateful to have such a supportive community. We hope they will have tons of fun with the 1.0 Launch,” said Simon Mittrücker Co-Founder and Game Director of Walking Tree Games.

The 1.0 version of “The Tribe Must Survive” is expanding language support to include Simplified Chinese and Japanese at launch.

Each Tribe member's behavior is dynamic, influenced by their unique traits and needs. You can guide them through work assignments, resource management, and decisions on building and technology upgrades. Ease Fear levels, organize rituals, and make key choices to help your Tribe persevere against upcoming disasters.

Resources near the campfire are limited. Launch Journeys into the Outer World for vital supplies. Successful ventures allow you to establish new outposts and trade routes. Will you invest your limited means on an uncertain expedition? Will you risk losing a good worker on a potentially fruitful adventure? Navigate dilemmas of risk and reward, balancing immediate needs with future prospects.

Your choices shape the Tribe's opinions in different ways, leading to emerging Factions and potential Inner Conflicts. Such events can significantly alter your playthrough. Be mindful of spiritual and philosophical needs, maintain cohesion and safeguard against internal and external threats.

Each playthrough presents new challenges and opportunities, like procedurally generated maps and a unique mix of Events and Perks. Adapting to the varying circumstances is key. Win or lose, there is always something to learn, bringing you closer to the next breakthrough.

Currently available through Steam Early Access, The Tribe Must Survive is coming to PC (Steam) on May 23, 2024 at $24,99.
