Incoming message from the United Citizen Federation!
Offworld—in collaboration with Sony Pictures Consumer Products—announced that Starship Troopers: Extermination will arrive on PlayStation 5 & Xbox Series X | S consoles this coming October 11 when the title launches out of Early Access into 1.0.
Making the announcement onstage was none other than Casper Van Dien, the star of the original 1997 Starship Troopers film, who revealed that his iconic character Johnny Rico will return in Starship Troopers: Extermination, commanding players in a new, single-player game mode included in the 1.0 launch, alongside new enemies, locations & more!
The new game mode focuses entirely on a single-player experience, offering 25 distinct missions and a variety of PvE combat scenarios across multiple environments, with a second chapter to follow post-launch. Tapped for an elite spec ops group within the Mobile Infantry, players find themselves following the orders of living legend General John “Johnny” Rico, proving their mettle against hordes of enemy Arachnids with the aid of three original NPC allies to prove themselves worthy of recruitment.
Alongside the announcement, Offworld also shared a new gameplay trailer, showcasing the battles, Bugs and blasts that console players can expect from upon their enlistment in the United Citizen Federation’s Mobile Infantry. Additionally, in the coming weeks, Offworld will share more information regarding Starship Troopers: Extermination—including details about the latest update, which arrives at the end of June.

The exciting new v0.8: Carnage on Planet X-11 update is coming in June and brings immersive and persistent carnage to the battlefield of Starship Troopers: Extermination. Prepare for an intense experience as the war against the bugs escalates to unprecedented levels.
Key Features
What is the Persistent Carnage System?
Carnage is our latest innovation that allows for an (almost) infinite number of bug corpses to remain scattered across the battlefield, only disappearing when you decide to obliterate them. Blood decals will now permanently stain many areas of the map, providing a visceral reminder of the intense conflicts that have taken place.
A More Realistic Battlefield
We believe that Carnage will offer a more realistic and immersive feel to the game. Witnessing the aftermath of your skirmishes gives you tangible evidence of your impact in the ongoing war against the arachnid menace.
More Than Just Visuals
As you watch the carnage unfold, you’ll realize that this feature is more than just a visual enhancement. Bug corpses now have full-body collision, creating new paths and obstacles. The living bugs update their navigation dynamically, allowing the arachnids to reach previously inaccessible areas.
- Persistent Bug Bodies: The carnage system introduces a groundbreaking feature where bug bodies remain in the world, creating a realistic and chaotic battlefield.
- Strategic Advantage: Players can climb on top of bug piles to gain superior vantage points over their enemies.
- Immersive Warfare: The persistent damage and carnage provide a more authentic representation of the brutal war against the arachnids.
New Battleground: Planet X-11
- Location: Planet X-11 is located deep within the Tibannis System, inside the arachnid quarantine zone.
- Unique Setting: Set within the rings of a gas giant, Planet X-11 is shrouded in mystery and danger.
- Mission Objective: Defend the crucial Teefang array, the Federation's most important listening post, essential for Federation operations against the Bugs!
- Combat Environments: Experience a blend of indoor and outdoor combat, a first for Starship Troopers, allowing for diverse and dynamic battle scenarios.
Enhanced Bug Mechanics
- Armor and Weak Points: Bugs now feature armor, adding a new layer of strategy to combat.
- Targeting Weak Points: Learn and exploit the weak points on bugs to take them down more efficiently with the right weapons, adding depth and nuance to gunplay.
