Ubisoft Closes Ubisoft Leamington, With Restructuring Ubisoft Dusseldorf/Stockholm And Ubisoft Reflections, Resulting In 185 Layofss

While Ubisoft ended 2024 by shutting down XDefiant, closing its San Francisco/Osaka studios and reducing Sydney headcount, it seems 2025 is equally off to a bad start.

The French developer/publisher confirmed today that it is closing UK studio Ubisoft Leamington, acquired by Ubisoft in 2017. The studio was previously known as FreeStyleGames and responsible for the DJ Hero franchise, as well as Guitar Hero Live.

During their tenure at Ubisoft the studio was also involved in the development of Star Wars Outlaws and Far Cry 5.

If that weren't enough, Ubisoft is also "restructurings" Ubisoft Dusseldorf, Ubisoft Reflections and Ubisoft Stockholm.

Ubisoft confirmed by commenting "Unfortunately, this should impact 185 employees overall. We are deeply grateful for their contributions and are committed to supporting them through this transition."
