'Total Chaos' To Get New Game+ Mode Early Next Year, Physical PS5 Edition In Q1 2026, Followed By Steam VR Support In Q2

by Rainier on Dec. 9, 2025 @ 10:10 a.m. PST

Descend into Total Chaos, a gripping terrormare that blurs the line between reality and madness.

Descend into the depths of uncertainty as a Coast Guardsman washed ashore upon the jagged coast of Fort Oasis — an abandoned mining outpost shrouded in mystery. A lone voice calls out over the radio: “Get to the mines.” Can the voice be trusted? What lies beneath the island? And wait…doesn’t Fort Oasis seem…familiar?

Total Chaos abandons the player within a world of dread across nine inescapable chapters. Stranded on the desolate island of Fort Oasis, players rely on scattered but unreliable clues, along with scavenged and improvised weapons to survive.

The decayed remains of a once-thriving mining outpost is no longer anyone’s tourist attraction… now abandoned and consumed by an eerie mystery surrounding the disappearance of its inhabitants. Brave forlorn graveyards, dilapidated buildings, and empty prisons harboring supernatural phenomena, scattered clues, handwritten notes, and the supplies necessary to survive this nightmare.

Total Chaos offers a deep descent into isolation, fear, and survival as players venture deeper into the labyrinthine ruins of Fort Oasis, a one-way ticket into the shadows of the mind. It’s now overrun by horrifying, relentless creatures that adapt their attack patterns, as if they’re able to read minds. Fend off these monstrosities with whatever improvised tools can be scavenged—a pipe wrench, a makeshift axe, anything to keep them at bay.

Explore an extended narrative, unnerving anomalies, and never-before-seen locales in the all-new tenth chapter via optional DLC alongside the PC release.

Inspired by classic survival horror but with modern game design sensibilities, Total Chaos immerses players in environments that feel as if they could collapse at any moment, further augmented by dynamic lighting, moody soundscapes, and a fear inducing musical score. The game pushes players to question not just the island’s reality, but their own memories. Have they been here before?

Apogee Entertainment and developer Sam Prebble of Trigger Happy Interactive are thrilled to announce that the descent into madness is far from over; Fort Oasis is not done with us.

Total Chaos is set to receive a New Game+ mode early next year, which will introduce new narrative elements and a terrifying new stalker enemy type for those brave enough to replay the game.

Total Chaos’ New Game+ mode introduces a new enemy: the Hunter. This stalker’s presence will be ever-present, adding a whole new dimension of fear to the game and increasing the challenge. Thankfully, players will retain their crafting recipes and gear from their previous playthrough… but will that be enough?

Additionally, as part of Apogee’s partnership with Atari publishing label Infogrames and Clear River Games, a physical edition of Total Chaos is now available for pre-order on Atari.com and through various retailers, with a release window of Q1 2026.

Key Features:

  • Immersive Atmosphere: Explore the nightmarish ruins of Fort Oasis across nine harrowing chapters, each plunging you deeper into its oppressive, decaying world.
  • Environmental Storytelling: Uncover the island’s darkest secrets and confront your own fractured past through cryptic notes, haunting visuals, and unsettling encounters.
  • Crafting for Survival: Build and upgrade weapons using scavenged materials to stand a chance against the relentless terrors stalking you.
  • Face Nightmarish Foes: Engage in desperate battles against horrific creatures, each with their own deadly behaviors and strategies.
  • Resource Management: Navigate a deep inventory system where every item matters—your survival hinges on careful choices and quick thinking.

Total Chaos is available for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC (Steam) at $24.99, with Steam VR support coming in Q2 2026.
