The time is 1984, the place is East Germany, and things are not quite what they seem.
Who controls the past controls the future; who controls the present controls the past.
Karma: The Dark World is a first-person cinematic psychological thriller set in a dystopian world where the Leviathan Corporation is omnipresent. The year is 1984, the place is East Germany, and things are not quite what they seem.
You are Daniel, a Roam Agent for Leviathan’s Thought Bureau, and you have been brought in to investigate actions that have happened in a very specific moment in time. A moment which opens the mind to a world of espionage and betrayal, littered with deep and dark secrets.
What is time? A measurement of fleeting events we perceive as they pass, where terrible and joyous experiences fade into memory, obscured by a desire to leave our sadness in the past as we struggle to hold on to our fondest moments as they drift toward nostalgia.
Sometimes there is no time for time.
Wired Productions and independent developer Pollard Studio announce that Karma: The Dark World will officially launch on March 27, 2025, exclusively on PlayStation 5 and PC at $24.99 / €24.99 / £19.99, with a 10% launch discount on PC, PlayStation and an additional 15% off on Steam for players who own any previous Wired Productions title.
To mark the occasion, the second in KARMA's mind-bending cinematic trilogy of trailers dropped - featuring the haunting new track 'Into the Mist', written and performed by Geng Li. The 3-minute-long epic release date trailer focuses on the stunning visuals, surreal environments and emotionally-charged story inspired by cinema’s finest auteurs with shocking twists at every turn. The release date trailer showcases central characters to the story, asking ‘when every shadow hides a secret, who can you trust?’
A host of PlayStation 5 Pro exclusive features were revealed, including full-featured PSSR Integration for enhanced image quality, definition and texture clarity - along with improved reflections and distance rendering - providing rock solid 60fps performance at 4k resolution.
“Wired Productions has always championed storytellers who push the boundaries and craft compelling narratives. Yonghe Wang and Pollard Studio team have raised the bar and have delivered a rollercoaster assault on the senses, in an abstract, surreal, dark yet hauntingly beautiful cinematic gaming masterpiece” said Leo Zullo, Managing Director at Wired Productions. “If Kojima, Christopher Nolan and the late and great David Lynch ever had the chance to work on a project from China, KARMA: The Dark World might just be the end result.”
But what happens when there is a way to see into those memories? To go back and inhabit those times locked away in the corners of our thoughts, to bring those fleeting moments back to the present? And what happens when a corporation creates a machine to allow them to do this at will to the inhabitants of a city held tight in their grasp?
Only time will tell…
