Cyan Worlds announces the addition of a new Age to their remake of Myst.
This major update containing the addition of Rime is free for existing owners of Cyan’s 2020 from-the-ground-up remake of Myst for Quest, and the 2021 Windows, Mac, and Xbox versions.
The Age of Rime introduces players to the snowy, mountainous seascape that Atrus and his family would visit in years past, before the events of Myst and Riven upended their lives. Sweeping vistas, beautiful ice structures, and fantastical natural phenomena await new visitors. This breathtaking new Age also houses a detailed laboratory space where bold experiments were made, delving into the mysterious nature of Linking Books themselves. This new version of Rime includes all-new narrative beats, new lore, and new sights to behold.
Details of This Release
Fans can look forward to exploring Rime when the new Age becomes available for the Meta Quest platform as well as PC and Mac systems on March 20, 2025, with an update for the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S versions of the game to follow.
- Added Rime, with all-new narrative beats, lore and visuals.
- Added the ability to zoom in on things.
- Added support for Intel XeSS and TSR (Windows only) supersampling.
- An option for Color Context Subtitles has been added to the Interface settings menu. This will show text next to puzzles that require seeing particular colors to figure out a solution.
- Major graphical improvements made to Quest on Myst Island and other areas of the game. ASW has been enabled to accommodate this.
Including new art, sound, interactions, and even optional puzzle randomization, the modern, definitive Myst is fully redesigned and created from the ground up using Unreal Engine. Many puzzles were re-imagined and engineered to include both enhanced accessibility and optional puzzle randomization for players who have played before!

The VR experience includes both Free Roam and Teleport modes, and supports Valve Index, HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, Rift S, and Quest via Oculus Link.
Additionally, Myst includes many “comfort level” features for both new and experienced VR users, including the option to enable smooth or snap turning, quick travel up stairs and ladders, vertical height quantization, and more!
Crossbuy will be enabled on the Oculus Store for Myst, so users who purchased the Quest Platform version will have access to the PC version on the desktop Oculus App, and vice-versa.
Myst is available for Meta Quest 2, Meta Quest 3, PC (Steam, GOG and Epic Games Store, with support for additional VR hardware), Xbox One and Xbox Series, at $29.99.
