Project Pantheon is a free-to-play live service game that will take players on a journey into a strange afterlife, where they are tasked by Death itself to aid in restoring order to a shattered reality.

Project Pantheon’s post-apocalyptic dark fantasy universe draws inspiration from a vast and diverse array of traditional tales and cultures from around the world, immersing players in rich mythology-driven narratives. The journey begins with an exploration of a fantastical reinterpretation of Nordic mythology – The Realm of Fate.
Developer Wolcen Studio opened registration for Project Pantheon Closed Alpha 2, and released the game’s second teaser trailer showing off a chilling glimpse into the downfall of the gods, showcases the brutal chaos that engulfs their once-mighty civilizations and further reveals Death’s growing interest in these apocalyptic events.
Closed Alpha 2 Launch Date and Details:
Players in Europe and North America will gain access to this crucial testing phase, focusing on combat mechanics, the introduction of the Sanctuary–the first long-term progression system for players to upgrade their gear and runes–and new features. "Most of the pieces are in place to put combat to the test," stated Andrei Chirculete, Game Director of Project Pantheon. "Our work isn't done, but with the feedback from our players, we will get closer to improving it and shaping the final experience."
Closed Alpha 2 will commence on Friday, April 25, 2025 at 10 A.M. PDT/7 P.M. CEST, and servers will remain online until Saturday 2:59 P.M. PDT/11:59 P.M. CEST.
Closed Alpha Registration and Access Details:
Interested players can register for access to Project Pantheon's Closed Alpha program.
Registrations will remain open throughout 2025 and the Closed Alpha period. However, to guarantee consideration for CA2, players must register by April 22, 2025. Invitations will be sent to selected players shortly before the next play-test begins.
Players who participated in Closed Alpha 1 (CA1) will automatically gain access to CA2. Those who registered previously but did not receive an invite yet will not need to register again to be considered for an invitation.
New Features & Systems:
- Player Sanctuary: Now a fully 3D navigable hub where players can customize gear, track achievements, and craft runes. It expands as players gather resources, becoming central to progression.
- Dodge Roll: "A new default gameplay mechanic that allows players to precisely evade enemy attacks."
- Weapon & Gear Customization: Players can now assign abilities to weapons and armor, enabling personalized builds and flexible combat styles.
- Crafting & Durability: Equipment now wears down with use. Players must craft runes and repair gear at the Sanctuary to maintain optimum performance.
New Content:
- The Staff (New Weapon): A powerful magical weapon that adds more variety to combat.
- Dungeons: New high-risk, high-reward zones with exclusive loot and challenging enemies.
- New Monster Faction - The Hamförir: A deadly new enemy faction that diversifies combat and invites tactical decision making.
- Gameplay Tutorial: A structured introduction that teaches core mechanics from the start.
Bug Fixes and Quality of Life Improvements:
- Improved Movement: Traversal is now more fluid and responsive, with reduced input lag and jitter.
- Revamped HP System and Shields: Shields have been redesigned and health is now segmented for clearer, more tactical combat.
- Better Match Pacing and Map Balance: Loot, enemies and player count have been adjusted for smoother, fairer matches.
- Combat Improvements: Abilities feel snappier thanks to reduced input lag and early balance changes.
- Bug Fixes: Numerous issues have been resolved to improve overall stability and gameplay.
Looking ahead on Project Pantheon’s timeline, Closed Alpha 3 is scheduled for summer 2025 to introduce narrative changes and Closed Alpha 4 coming in autumn 2025 will balance gameplay and players’ progression.
While the game has been in development for more than a year and is currently in the early alpha stage of development, Wolcen Studio aims to give players a voice in driving essential game updates to help shape the world’s future as development progresses.
