Supported by his Agency handler, Diana Burnwood, Agent 47 joins forces with his long-lost friend Lucas Grey. Their ultimate mission is to eliminate the partners of Providence, but they are forced to adapt as their hunt intensifies. When the dust settles, 47 and the world he inhabits will never be the same again.
In 2015, we shared our vision for the World of Assassination; an ever-expanding game that would evolve over time and be the foundation for future Hitman games. Those were the exact words we used and a central promise to how we’ve released the three games in the 7 years that followed. Hitman World of Assassination includes Hitman 1, Hitman 2 and Hitman 3.
Featuring six meticulously detailed locations packed full of creative opportunities, Hitman World of Assassination gives players the unrivaled freedom to complete their objectives in a game world that reacts to everything they do. All of this is made possible by IOI’s award-winning Glacier technology, which powers Hitman III’s immersive game world to offer unparalleled player choice and replayability.
Hitman World of Assassination players can import locations from the previous games in the trilogy and have more than 20+ locations under one roof. All of the improvements to rendering, animation and AI introduced with Hitman World of Assassination can be enjoyed across all three games, making Hitman World of Assassination the ultimate place to play the entire World of Assassination trilogy.
On this day, exactly 5 years ago, HITMAN 3 launched worldwide for our players to experience, as the final chapter of the World of Assassination trilogy. As part of that special milestone, it was also important for HITMAN to equip its players with a sense of continuity by allowing everyone to bring forward their established progression from previous parts.
In relation to that anniversary, we are pleased to announce that:
- A brand-new, fresh look launches today for our IOI Account (browser & mobile)
- Cross-Progression is coming to Hitman World Of Assassination, set to go live on February 3rd. Since the release of HITMAN World of Assassination, it has been our wish to enable this feature for players to be able to carry on their in-game progression, whatever the device you play on, and even more so since HITMAN WOA is now playable on more than 10 different platforms. Whether you’re switching from console to PC, playing on multiple devices, or changing to a new platform, your progression will now follow you, from the 3rd of February onwards, no matter where you choose to play. In addition, a 3.250.1 Steam patch will be going live next week to ensure proper Cross-Progression functioning ahead of its launch on February 3rd.
Cross-Progression
When Cross-Progression is enabled, your progression will be stored online and shared across all supported platforms you link to your IOI Account. Cross-Progression uses a Primary Account model, meaning that when you link platforms to your IOI Account, one platform profile of your choice becomes your primary progression profile, and all other linked platforms follow that profile.
The following progression data is shared across platforms:
- Experience
- Player Level
- Challenges
- Location Mastery
- Unlocks and Inventory
- Achievements / Trophies
- Freelancer Mode Progression
- Campaign Story Progress
This ensures that whether you’re completing Silent Assassin challenges, unlocking items, or building out your Freelancer safehouse, your progress remains consistent across platforms.
The following are not shared across platforms:
- Game license
- DLC license
- DLC-based unlocks
To access specific locations, missions, or DLC items on another platform, you must own that content on that platform. If you do not own a piece of content on a platform, you will not have access to it, or its associated unlocks there, even if you unlocked them elsewhere.
Game Saves
Players should keep in mind the following when enabling Cross-Progression:
- Old save games created on a non-primary linked account will not be loadable while Cross-Progression is active.
- If players want to use older saves from their non-primary linked accounts, they can disable Cross-Progression at any time. Doing so will revert each of their non-primary linked accounts to the exact state they were in before Cross-Progression was activated, restoring access to the saves on those platforms.
HITMAN 2 to HITMAN 3 Carryover
Back in January 2021, alongside HITMAN 3’s worldwide launch, we introduced the HITMAN 2 to HITMAN 3 Carryover system, allowing our players to move their progression from HITMAN 2 into HITMAN 3.
Now, to enable Cross-Progression in HITMAN World of Assassination using our IOI Account, the HITMAN 2 to HITMAN 3 carryover process must be closed, meaning it won’t be possible to proceed with the carryover past February 3rd, 2026.
This guarantees data integrity and prevents conflicts between legacy progression systems and the new unified WOA progression.
Past February 3rd 9:00 UTC / 10:00 CET players won’t be able to proceed to the HITMAN 2 to HITMAN 3 carryover, giving you two weeks to proceed to the carryover if you are yet to do so.
Guidelines for the HITMAN 2 to HITMAN 3 carryover are available here.
Hitman World of Assassination’s sandbox locations give you complete freedom to approach your objectives in any way you want. As well as the new multi-function camera, you’ll also be able to interact with the game world in new ways to access new opportunities and paths through each level. Want to organize a meeting with your target? Check. How about opening elevator doors to access a new route? You can do that too and so much more.
As you explore each mission and complete challenges, you’ll rise through 20 Mastery tracks that will unlock new tools, weapons and even Starting Locations that will let you begin your next playthrough with a big advantage – possibly even in a disguise. All of the items and weapons that you unlock in a Mastery track are added to your permanent inventory, so you’ll be able to pick and choose from them no matter what mission you want to take on next.
Hitman World of Assassination has been made with replayability front and center. You simply cannot see and do everything that a mission has to offer in a single playthrough, and the Mastery tracks keep things fresh as you take new approaches, use new items and discover previously unexplored areas.
Depending on how you choose to complete your objectives, you’ll be awarded with a Playstyle at the end of each mission. From the coveted Silent Assassin to a Hired Gun and everything in between, there’s a Hitman style for every player. Maybe you’re a Marksman?
Hitman III will have full PS VR support. Yes, that means you can traverse the outside of the tallest building in the (Hitman) world in PS VR! If you own the previous games from the trilogy on PS4, you can also access locations from them within Hitman III. That’s more than 20 Hitman locations from the World of Assassination trilogy to enjoy in PS VR.
You can either play Hitman III in PS VR natively on your PS4 or via backward compatibility on PS5. To make sure all PS VR owners can experience the game in VR, we’re including a free digital copy of the PS4 version of Hitman III with all PS5 copies, whether you choose to buy it via disc or digital.
Hitman World of Assassination will look, sound and play better than ever with improvements to lighting, reflections, animation and AI. Chongqing also features full water effects, with details such as rain drops hitting Agent 47 and his clothes getting wet, all adding to the immersion of experiencing Hitman III.
On next-gen consoles, Hitman World of Assassination will run in 4K resolution at 60 frames per second with HDR support.
Hitman World of Assassination is currently available for Nintendo Switch (through Cloud Technology), Nintendo Switch 2, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC (Steam / Epic Games Store).
