Long ago, the world was ruled by a race of mighty giants, known as The Forgers. Aran de Lira de Lira, the son of the King’s Ward Commander, grew up alongside Princess Nerea and Prince Erin, sharing a close bond with the royal siblings. However, a tragic event in his youth left an indelible scar on his soul. Though the pain lingers, shaping much of his life, Aran has shown remarkable resilience. He refuses to let his past define him entirely, choosing instead to focus on others’ well-being and face his responsibilities with unwavering resolve. Now entrusted with the weighty task of killing the queen, Aran is determined to honor his duty and forge his future through strength and courage.

You won’t be alone on your journey. As a player, you’ll be joined by Adso, Aran’s loyal companion. Adso will offer you invaluable guidance and support throughout your adventure together. 505 Games and developer MercurySteam are excited to announce the Steam version of Blades of Fire which will launch globally on May 14th featuring significant updates and new content.

To celebrate the Steam announcement, starting today, players can download a dedicated demo - as part of the upcoming Steam Next Fest – which will include parts of the first chapter of the game allowing you to forge your first weapons, experience the unique combat system, encounter a big troll and learn more about Aran's journey.

The Steam release includes “Version 2.0” of the game, featuring major updates and improvements, plus the Adventurer Pack*, the Artbook, and the award-winning original soundtrack by Óscar Araujo.

The Version 2.0 content will release on May 14th as a free update across all platforms and introduces a wealth of improvements:

• THE FORGE: Find Forge Scrolls, develop your forging skills and craft your weapon to suit your fighting style. The chosen weapon family and the materials you create it from will affect characteristics such as weight, length, durability, penetration and edge quality.   
• CHOOSE YOUR WEAPON: Choose between seven different weapon families and over 30 unique Forge Scrolls, which allow almost infinite weapon combinations. Your choice of weapon will be crucial when facing your enemy!  
• TACTICAL COMBAT: A unique and challenging combat system which allows you to attack specific body parts of the enemy. Slash, stab or bludgeon enemies depending on the situation and what the enemy is equipped with. Only the right weapon will allow you to overcome the enemy’s armour.  
• YOU ARE NOT ALONE: Adso is Aran’s companion, a curious scholar drawn into the hero’s journey by fate. Though no warrior, his keen mind and ancient knowledge will prove invaluable. • BE ON GUARD: Over 50 enemy types, including the Queen’s guards, creatures, undead and more. Each enemy has its own unique attack style, weapon, and armour setup.  
• A WORLD FULL OF MYSTERY: Aran and Adso embark on an uncertain mission. The objective is clear, but the path is full of dangers, mysteries and epic settings such as huge castles, maze-like palaces and more.
